Freedom Valley Farm
Local Fresh Produce Plan (“the Plan”)
Membership Information
Plan Season: From the beginning of May through mid-October, which is 24 weeks.
Introduction
Freedom Valley Farm (“the farm”) is well known locally for the quality and freshness of its products. We act in good faith to provide excellent produce from the Plan’s harvest season, but farming by its nature has inherent benefits and risks.
Subscribe to the Plan to enjoy benefits that include a supply of locally grown, fresh, seasonal produce - - delicious and wholesome food for you and your family. We have taken hard earned cash and invested it in the farm for a potential profit; committing our land, capital, labor, reputation, and honor.
Farmers are custodians of the land’s soil; one of the few truly necessary resources on this planet. Smaller, solitary farms like ours lessen the health risks associated with large concentrated operations; where vast quantities of goods can be contaminated by a single event. Local communities benefit from employment opportunities and free enterprise economic activity that help sustain desired standards of living.
By joining with us you agree that these benefits and risks are included in the Plan membership. The farm will work to minimize risk, but cannot reimburse, refund, or otherwise compensate any portion of a subscription in the event of crop failures or low yields.
Member Benefits
- Local Agriculture: You benefit by having access to non-toxic healthy food that is grown using organic chemical free methods. The Plan is also your opportunity to participate in,and learn about, the exciting local food movement.
- PlanSize Options: Each member is entitled to a “share” of the farm’s weekly harvest. A Full Share is intended to provide weekly produce for 2 adults and 2 children. Half Sharesare intended for 1-2 people.
The contents of a weekly share vary as the season progresses. We strive to provide a variety of high-quality produce every week but the mixture and amount of items offered depend on the success of our crops. Assuming average or better weather conditions we will deliverevery week during the Plan season.
If two or more members share a Plan, splitting is the responsibility of the Plan “partners”. Only one of the members is responsible for making full payment.
- Member Accounts: Each Plan member has an online account on our website with contact information, Plan options, pick-up location, and the balance on the account. Members can view their account, edit their contact information, make payments, and renew Plans for the next season.
- Additional Orders: During the Plan season additional products are available on a weekly order basis. Telephone orders will be accepted up to two days before your weekly delivery date. Orders will be included with the weekly Plan delivery. Members can check our website to see if additional orders can be made at our online store by logging in with their user ID and password.
- Discounted Pricing: Plan members can purchase any of our products available during the season at a 10% discount. This applies to the additional orders described aboveand to items for sale at farmers markets.
- Flexible Payment Terms: Members who register online have the option of arranging their own flexible interest-free installment payments over 1 – 6 months via the Bill Me Later™ service. See Payments below.
Communication & Privacy
Members have direct contact with us via email, by telephone; and in person at farmers markets and pickup locations. Just before a season starts we begin sending weekly e-mails with a short message from the farm with the list of what is included in the next weekly delivery. Additional information is occasionally provided on the farm website.
Your contact information is valuable because it helps us to stay in touch and to provide you with the best possible experience. Freedom Valley Farm will never share your information with anyone outside the farm.
Deliveries
Plan shares are delivered to pickup locations on a weekly basis.
You select one pickup location at the beginning of the season. If you need to switch mid-season, we ask for at least three days’ notice.
If a member cannot pick up their share, another person can be designated to make the pickup.
We cannot guarantee that your share will be available if you miss your pickup (though we will try). Any shares not picked up during distribution may be donated to a recipient or organization chosen by us.
Contact us regarding current pick-up locations. Check our paper application, or our website.
Payments
You become a member of the Plan when we receive payment in full at registration. Membership is a commitment to purchase and receive vegetables for the entire Plan season, or the remainder of the season if you join after the first delivery date.
Payment Options:
- Pay in full with any credit or debit card when registering online.
- Flexible Payment Option. For your convenience we offer Bill Me Later™ when paying online. Accounts with Bill Me Later™ have no fees, and are interest free if paid within six months. Nothing is owed until the end of the six months, but payments in amounts of your choice can be made penalty free before the due date. You can learn more about this service during the online payment process.
