JOB TITLE: Store Associate

REPORTS TO: Retail Area Manager

HOURS:21hrs/ 3days across the trading week, Mon – Sun

SALARY:£14,000 to £15,000 pro rata

We are recruiting for a passionate and energetic person to work in our new Nantwich charity shop.

Working three days / 21 hours per week including some weekends, you will be part of a brilliant team which raises money for St Luke’s Hospice.

Working alongside our dedicated volunteers, you will help to maximise sales and income in the shop and meet high standards of customer service.

Our trading business is an important part of the income generation and fundraising department and plays a vital role in working in and with our community to ensure we can support the fantastic work carried out at the Hospice.

You will have experience and knowledge of working in the retail sector and bring the skills required to move what is already a busy profitable unit to the next level.

Previous knowledge of Gift Aid and Epos till systems would be an advantage.

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Store Associate

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Head of Retail

PURPOSE:To maximise sales and profits for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • To be responsible for the day to day running of the shop and volunteers
  • Drive high standards and profitability through effective leadership of volunteers
  • Ensure full productivity is maintained to keep the shop floor stocked to maximum capacity
  • Maximise potential of donated goods and Gift Aid
  • Maintain high standards of stock and presentation throughout the shop and window display
  • To liaise with the Retail Area Manager to ensure all resources are available for the shop in terms of stock and volunteers
  • To train, motivate and manage an effective team of volunteers
  • Ensure the shop is safe and efficient and all statutory and company health and safety rules are adhered to at all times
  • Positively promote St Luke’s core values within the organisation and externally
  • Undertake any tasks as reasonably requested by the Area Manager or Sales Manager

Sales

  • Achieve budgets by maximising on sales and gift aid
  • Ensure the highest standards of customer service is delivered to all customers, donors and supporters
  • To encourage donors, supporters and customers to donate stock and to engage in any stock generation program when required

Stock

  • Ensure stock is priced correctly in line with price guidelines so maximum profit is achieved
  • Ensure layout is maintained as per pre-set targets for efficient space management
  • Maintain a rigorous rotation process to ensure no item is on display for longer than the stipulated period (currently two weeks)

Administration

  • Ensure Gift Aid procedures are in place and compliant with HMRC
  • To complete all relevant administration in accordance with Head Office instructions
  • Ensure banking is completed safely and securely on daily basis
  • Report any Incidences, accidents or near misses to Retail Area Manager

Health & Safety & Security

  • Under health and safety legislation each individual has a legal responsibility for their own welfare and for the health and safety of others and to co-operate in maintaining their place of work in a tidy and safe condition, thereby minimizing risk. Any queries you may have relating to health and safety matters should be raised in the first instance with your line manager.
  • Similarly, it is each person’s responsibility to ensure a secure environment and bring any breaches of security to the attention of their manager.
