Steps to install Dreamweaver CS6 on your personal computer

  1. Log into Tuportal, find the Adobe Creative Cloud link on the left-hand side of the screen and click on it, and then follow the steps to access your free Adobe Creative Cloud subscription.
  2. Once you are signed up and receive the welcome email message from Adobe, you may continue to step number 3. The email may take up to 24 hours to receive, but typically it only takes a few minutes.
  3. Visit and twirl down the arrow for the option “Download your first purchased app”. You will see step number one is to sign in to your Adobe account. Click on the link.
  4. Type your Temple U email address into the first box. When you attempt to type in your password, the web page will automatically take you to a different screen asking if you have an Adobe ID or and Enterprise ID. You have an enterprise ID, so click that option. Finish the login process and move to step 5.
  5. You will be redirected to a web page that allows you to manage your account (see image below) – Click on “Desktop Downloads” as you want to put DW CS6 on your laptop or desktop.
  6. Once you click on Desktop Downloads, you will be shown a long list of apps you can install. While you would think “click on Dreamweaver!” is the correct option, the only way to get to Dreamweaver CS6 is to first install the Creative Cloud app. Download and install the Creative Cloud app.
  1. When you download the app, you will see a box asking you to answer some questions. Your skill level does not matter, but be sure to answer you are a student and are downloading the software for yourself.
  2. Once the Creative Cloud app is installed, you will need to login to use it. This app gives you access to every piece of software Adobe makes, but more importantly for you, it gives you access to older versions of some of the software – like Dreamweaver CS6. Be sure to choose the option to sign in with an Enterprise ID!
  3. Once logged in, you should click on the Apps option (instead of the Home option) and you will find a list of apps to install. Locate Dreamweaver CC (2017) but do not click on install. Instead, click on the down arrow next to the word install and choose Dreamweaver CS6.

  4. (Step 11 is on the next page)
  5. When you click install, you should see a “new app” appear in the list of apps. That app will be DW CS6 and you should also find an installation progress bar on your screen.
  6. Once installed, scroll to the top of the list of apps available and find the option to view “installed apps” instead of “all apps”. Click on “installed apps” and locate Dreamweaver CS6.
You may notice there is an Update option. DO NOT CLICK ON UPDATE!
If you do, it will update you to Dreamweaver CC which is not the same software we are using in class.
To open your DW CS6 program, you can click on the arrow next to “update” and choose the open option.
You can also go to your list of programs whether you are using a Mac or Windows system and open the program from that location. For example, in Windows 10, I simply clicked the start button and found Adobe Dreamweaver CS6 in the “A” section of software.
Enjoy your free Adobe subscription. Remember, don’t click on the update option for DW CS6! Never click on “update all” or you will update DW CS6 by accident.
