As an organization specializing in eradicating human trafficking and restoring survivors, the Faith Alliance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAAST) is dedicated to harnessing talents of interested parties and funneling their energy to make an impact for abolition.

Certified FAAST Facilitators represent the epitome of our mission, vision and goals. Persons in these positions act as leaders in FAAST Hands that Heal training events. Certified FAAST Facilitators will have completed the prerequisites below to be considered for the appointment and must have been approved by FAAST leadership to serve in this capacity. For this roll, FAAST seeks applicants who are subject matter experts coupled with excellent presentation and crowd engagement skills.

STEPS TO BECOMING A CERTIFIED HANDS THAT HEAL TRAINER

1.  Attend and complete a Hands that Heal training at a community level earning a Student Certificate or attend and complete a Training of Trainers (TOT) for Hands that Heal at the community level earning a Training Certificate.

2.  Successful execution of a co-lead presentation along with a Certified FAAST Facilitator.

3.  Familiarity with the Preferred Terminology for Sex Trafficking and Prostitution.

4.  Knowledge of the Hands that Heal curriculum and other supplemental readings.

5.  Two letters of recommendation speaking to applicant’s subject matter and/or presentation skills.

6.  FAAST partners approval and issue a Certified Training Facilitator Certificate.

CERTIFICATE CAPABILITIES

FAAST has determined the following levels of certification for Hands that Heal:

Student Certificate – Attended and completed a Hands that Heal training at the community level. The individual is knowledgeable and able to talk accurate about human trafficking , demands, Christian framework for a response, etc.

Training Certificate – Attended and completed a Training of Trainers for Hands that Heal at the community level. Individuals are able to train small groups of people using Hands that Heal as a source. This does NOT allow individuals to hold a FAAST sponsored Hands that Heal training or give Trainer certifications.

Certified Training Facilitator – Received a training certificate and has co-facilitated a Hands that Heal training with an experienced facilitator. Certified trainers are able to teach people how to teach/conduct TOTs to equip community leaders/trainers for small groups, non-profits, and Christian education.

CERTIFIED HANDS THAT HEAL TRAINER JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

The following criteria must be met in order to become a certified FAAST Hands that Heal Trainer:

Skills:

§  Ability to actively listen and communicate well verbally

§  Awareness of group dynamics and processes

§  Exude flexibility and discernment

§  Ability to focus and instruct on the content of curriculum

§  Effective use of tools and techniques for communication

§  Improve how the participants identify and resolve issues affecting the community

§  Affirmation that commercial sex should not be normalized as a legitimate form of employment because of the inherent harm caused to everyone involved

§  Presentation of a Christian faith perspective while respecting the faiths of others

FAAST:

§  Successful completion of the Hands That Heal Training of Trainers

§  Familiarity with the Preferred Terminology for Sex Trafficking and Prostitution

§  Knowledge of the Hands that Heal curriculum and other supplemental reading

§  Co-facilitate a Hands that Heal training event

§  Approval by FAAST partners

Faith:

§  Agrees with the Apostles Creed

§  Believes that God did not create any person to sell their body or be prostituted

§  Is committed to principles that value the physical, emotional, and spiritual dignity of the whole person.

Education:

§  Completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher

§  Knowledge of culture and gender issues

Experience:

§  Experience as a trainer or public speaker

§  Experience working on trafficking issues or working directly with trafficking survivors

What Goes Into a Hands that Heals Training

FAAST is committed to producing high quality workshops and because of this we have a few guidelines we would like you to adhere to. Upon issuance of a Certified Trainer Certificate, you will receive complete guidelines to holding a Hands that Heals trainings and the password to the HTH trainer section of the FAAST website. (Note: This is not a comprehensive list of what goes into a training but it is a sample of it.)

§  Notification of FAAST that a HTH is being conducted, including a “Pre-Training Facilitator Questionnaire”.

§  All official HTH trainings will have at least two certified FAAST Facilitators present, allowing participants and trainers to be exposed to a broader range of expertise and knowledge. It also provides an opportunity for collaboration and shared responsibility, which tends to lighten the work load. FAAST will gladly connect you with other certified trainers if needed.

§  Typical FAAST Hands that Heal trainings are three fully days. It takes approximately 24 hours to cover all the chapters. FAAST asks that no official Hands that Heal training be fewer than the predetermined 24-hour guideline.
