A description of the steps in the working prosess through a year’s business of the Young Enterprise program

I

n May/June in the basic course, the students discuss and sometimes decide which product and business idea they are going to work on during the next school year.

W

e start in the 2nd year with a brain stormprocess. During this process the students also decide which group of people they prefer to cooperate with. To a certain degree, the teacher has to administrate this process to be sure that all the students are included in an enterprise. From the teacher’s point of view, this is probably the most difficult part of the process.

Step 1

These elementshave to be explained:

  • Name of the enterprise
  • The regulations of the enterprise
  • Names, addresses and birthnumber of all of the members of the enterprise
  • Who is going to represent the enterprise by signing the documents?
  • Proposals of members of the board, and who should be the chairman of the board
  • Who is going to be the auditor?
  • Who will be mentor?
  • Number of shares per member of the enterprise. The shares are printed in forehead with a value of NKR 100,-. Maximum capital is NKR 20.000,- totally.
  • An invitation with an agenda to the foundation meeting has to be sent to the teacher and the mentor.
  • A written business idea
  • The registration documents have to be signed by all the members of the enterprise

Step 2

Online registration of the enterprise in the Brønnøysund Register Centre.

The Brønnøysund Register Centre is an administrative agency responsible for a number of national control and registration schemes for business and industry. The overarching aim of the centre is to improve the conditions for financial security and efficiency for business and industry, and the public at large.

T

he Register of Company Accounts stores the annual accounts and reports for ten years and makes them available beyond this period. Accounts information is a matter of public interest and must be in the public domain.

A

nnual accounts and reports may be ordered from the Brønnøysund Register Centre or may be downloaded using the automatic self-service Brønnøysund telefax.

T

he most active users of the Register of Company Accounts are business journalists. The register is also an important aid for financial institutions and others wishing to obtain information about a potential contract partner.

T

he Register of Company Accounts provides essential source material for business and industry policy analyses undertaken by researchers and students.

T

he Brønnøysund Register also take care of the Young Enterprises’ demand for a register just for enterprises in schools. This register includes the same information from students as the register for real life.

Step 3

The students then must:

1 fill in the register form

2 print it out in two copies

3 the members of the enterprise all endorse, and finally

4 make sure that the teacher signs

5 the two copies are sent to Young Enterprise in the county of Buskerud, and the following documents are enclosed:

a) the copies of the regulations,

b) a copy of the receipt for registration duty or preliminary expenses(NKR 200,-),

c) a signed agreement in original with the responsible teacher and

d) the protocol from the first meetingwith original signatures

Step 4

T

he Young Enterprise will then receive an organisation number by post and a letter from for council of the board of Young Enterprise in Buskerud county. The mentor will also receive a letter.

Now the Young Enterprise is authorized by the Brønnøysund Register.

The Young Enterprise now has reached a certain level of quality. This will result in benefits such as:
