STEP 1: Login to Facebook

Login to the personal Facebook account of the Extension member that will serve as your Page Manager or create a Facebook account if needed. A Facebook Page belongs exclusively to the Profile of the person who creates it until an additionalperson is added as an Admin in Page Roles(see Step 15). For more information about Page Roles, see

STEP 2: Create a Page

STEP 3:Enter Type, Category, Company Name

Enter the following settings:

Type = Company, Organization or Institution

Category = Education

Company Name = {your county} County Extensions – UAEX

NOTE: Restrictions on Changing Your Page Name
Pages with less than 200 “Likes” = an Admin or Editor can change the Page’s name ONCE
Pages with 200 “Likes” or more = an Admin can submit a request to change the Page's name ONCE

STEP 4:Set Up → 1. About

Apply the following settings:

Short Description: / Extension program of {your county}County, Arkansas - part of University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture, Cooperative Extension Service (UAEX)

Unique Facebook Web Address: / uaex.{your county}
NOTE: Restrictions on Changing Page’s Username
An Admin can change your Page's username. Keep in mind that after your Page's username has been set, it can only be changed ONCE.

STEP 5:Set Up → 2. Profile Picture

Use new Extension Facebook logo customized for your program (if you are creating a program page) (180px x180px). Contact Kerry Rodtnick at .

NOTE: More about the Profile Picture

  • Represents the program not only on the Page, but everywhere in Facebook (e.g. posts, comments, Likes).
  • The new Extension Facebook logohas been cropped into a 180px square and looks good when Facebook reduces it to a 160px square on the Page and a 32px square for posts, commentsand Likes.

STEP 6:Set Up → 3: Add to Favorites

Click <Add to Favorites> to add the Page to the Admin’s favorites for easy access.

STEP 7:Set Up → 4: Share with Friends

Click <Share Page> to share the Page on the Admin’s personal Profile timeline.

STEP 8:“Like” the Page

Click <Like> to add the Admin’s support for the new Page.

STEP 9:Invite Friends

Promote the new Page to the Admin’s personal friends and invite them to “Like” it.

STEP 10:The Most Important Things

An activity summary for the week can be found on the upper right-hand side of the new Page.

STEP 11:Add a Cover

Upload a photo to display behind the Profile Picture at the top of the new Page.

NOTE: Tips for the Cover Photo

  • Choose a high-quality image that makes a good first impression for the Page.
  • Crop, resize and save image to .JPG at 851px wide by 315px tall and less than 100 kilobytes using a photo editing tool like Irfanview

STEP 12:“Like” Arkansas ExtensionPages

Click on the Page links below and “Like” each one.

Apply the following settings:

Posting Ability: / anyone can post; anyone can add photos and videos
Post Visibility: / posts to page are hidden from timeline
Tagging Ability: / others can tag photos
Profanity Filter: / strong

STEP 13:Settings → Page Info

Apply the following settings:
