LEARNERS PERMITS

STEP 1: Complete Newcomers Orientation (All except Army personnel)

POC: 645-8395

STEP 2: Sign up for SchillingDrivingSchool on Kadena Airbase. And get receipt!!POC: 634-1387 (Note: You will not receive your permit at Schilling!! You need to return to Base Safety with the credentials listed below for your permit.)

STEP 3: Arrive at the Base Safety office with:

1. ID card(Sofa status and a valid identification card)“NO RET ID CARD”

2. Area Clearanceand Orders

3. AccompanyingParent/Spouse

4. Receipt of paymentfrom Schilling driving school

5. USFJ-4A application Family member:signed byParent/Spouse

(Yellow card) E-5 and below, active duty:signed by the Battalion CO

6. Must passEye-Exam. at Base Safety office before test!

7. Drivers Improvement(DIC) if Active dutyunder the age of 26.

(1) LEARNER’S PERMIT WILL BE PICKED UP BY A SCHILLING DRIVING

SCHOOL INSTRUCTOR PRIOR TO THE START DATE OF THE CLASS.

★For dependents requesting to practice drive with a Parent/Spouse, must successfully complete a written SOFA test at Base Safety prior to receiving a permit.

(2) For those who are practice drive with a parent//spouse

(Active duty members do not have this option), you must successfully complete a written SOFA test at the Base Safety office, prior to receiving a permit. The test hours are:Monday through Friday 0745 or 0945. first come first service

STUDY MATERIAL: “ click” -info - driving

Note:All are required to attend SchillingDrivingSchool, even if practicing with your

Parent/spouse so you must also meet the above mentioned prerequisites.

STEP 4:Complete “SchillingDrivingSchool”and provide the Certificate of Completion and Learners Permit to Base Safety licensing office during the hours of 1230-1600for license issue.

**** E-4 AND BELOWIN THE MARINE CORPS AND NAVY ATTACHED TO MARINE CORPS UNITNEEDTO ATTEND 1 DAY POV CLASS. (YOUR S-3/G-3 IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT YOUR NOMINATION TO ATTEND THE COURSE).
