Marketing Assistant

The ECHO Network is seeking a marketing champion with a passion for building relationships and breaking down barriers between diverse people in the community. The successful candidate will creatively use a variety of methods and media to increase awareness of ECHO in the community and promote ECHO teams and events. Job duties include developing and maintaining ECHO’s online presence; generating content for e-newsletters and social media; maintaining e-newsletter database; analyzing effectiveness of online marketing efforts; writing and submitting press releases; creating and distributing electronic flyers to promote events; maintaining communications with volunteers, donors, and the Board; serving as liaison to the Board’s Marketing Committee; assisting with office administration; and attending ECHO events as needed.

Hours/ Days: 10-12 hours per week. Flexible scheduling. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Status:Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Starting Salary:$15/hour

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and 1-3 years of marketing/ communications or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups, modeling social capital development.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to creatively maximize a limited marketing budget.
  • Proficient with Office software, including Outlook, Word, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Proficient with social media, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Proficient with WordPress or other web design software.

Position Purpose: Serves as social capital champion, using a variety of methods and media to increase awareness of ECHO in the community and promote ECHO teams and events.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Takes a lead role in developing and maintaining ECHO’s online presence, including website and social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.).
  • Generates engaging story ideas and content for electronic newsletters and social media.
  • Writes content and maintains ECHO website, ensuring all information is up to date and well-organized. Serves as liaison with website design firm/ host.
  • Maintains email newsletter database.
  • Tracks and reports statistics on website, email newsletter, and social media sites utilized.
  • Creates and distributes electronic and print flyers to promote activities.
  • Writes press releases and submits to media outlets.
  • Serves as “keeper of the ECHO brand,” ensuring the name and logo are used appropriately.
  • Maintains communications with ECHO volunteers, donors, and board.
  • Serves as Marketing Committee liaison for ECHO Network.
  • As needed, attends ECHO events to assist and take photos. Secures permission from participants to use images.
  • Assists Program Director in office administration- answering phone calls, returning emails, greeting guests, writing checks, gathering data for 990.

Education and Experience:

Associate’s Degree and 1-3 years of marketing/ communications or related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Requirements:
