Elected Experience: State Representative appointed Vice-Chair of the Early Learning Human Services Committee, appointed to the Transportation Committee and Technology and Economic Development Committee. Former Federal Way City Council member.
Other Professional Experience: Attorney / Society of Council, a public defense law firm. Promoted to Managing Attorney /Dependency Law practice.
Education: Juris Doctorate, Washburn University, Iowa State University Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
Community Service: City of Federal Way Human Services Commissioner, MLK Celebration organizer, Adelaide Elementary volunteer, FW National Little League volunteer, CTKBF prayer ministry director, Relay for Life participant and so endorsed by the King County and 30th District Democrats, WEA, Firefighters.
Statement: As State Representative and an attorney with 19 years of experience, I accomplished several goals. I secured $2.6 million to fund the performing arts center in Federal Way, activity center improvements in Milton and a community center in Algona. I passed legislation to protect police and firefighters injured in the line of duty, empower persons with disabilities and preserve parental rights. I supported $1billion investments in education, passed a transportation budget to reduce gridlock and encourage job creation, and supported closing tax loopholes to fund teacher COLA’s. Jack Dovey
(Prefers Republican Party)
Elected Experience: Former Mayor of Federal Way; Federal Way City Councilmember, 14 years.
Other Professional Experience: Worked for IBM, AT&T, and New Vector Communications. Started a small wireless telephone business in 1987 to present.
Education: Member of the first class to graduate from Decatur High School in 1973. Bachelor of Science in Geography, Oregon State University.
Community Service: Youth sports coach; Rotary International; Eagle Scout; Communities in Schools mentor; ski instructor at Crystal Mountain for 5-7 year olds. Jack and Jennifer raised their two children in Federal Way. Son, Jackson, is a construction manager. Daughter, Jeneca, served in the Peace Corps and is a high school chemistry teacher.
Statement: Jack Dovey first ran for public office as a soccer dad who thought we needed more sports fields for kids, and safer streets. We elected him and he helped build Celebration Park and create the Federal Way Police Department.
