Homework Assignments

Homework provides an opportunity for review, practice and refinement of learning.

Your time is valuable, as is mine. I spend a lot of time thinking about and planning for the homework I ask you to do. If you spend your homework time well, and put in the appropriate amount of effort on your work, you should be able to walk into class ready to be a good participant in that day's lesson. If you walk in unprepared, you may still learn something, but you will not benefit from the lesson as much as if you had prepared properly.I promise to always do my best to design lessons and homework assignments that are worthy of the effort you need to put into them.

Guidelines for Homework Submission:

You will be submitting homework by chapter. For each chapter, follow these guidelines.

1.Write your name clearly on the first page.

2.Use a new page for each section. (Chapter 1 is the only chapter that is NOT arranged by section)

3.Indicate the section number and the assigned problems at the top of the page.

4.Staple all sections together for the given chapter.

Guidelines for Completing Homework Assignments:

1.Always include a brief summary of the question. Show work. A “stand alone” answer will not receive credit.

2.I suggest using some system for marking those questions that you need help with, such as circling the

question number.

3.Most answers are provided in the text and I will answer homework questions, so answers are expected to be correct

by the due date. If an answer is not provided in the text, be certain to ask for the correct answer in class.

Guidelines for Earning Credit on Homework:

1.Points will be deducted if any of the above guidelines are not met.

2.Points may be deducted for an incorrect answer so remember to check your answers with the back of the text.

3.In general, the beginning of each class will be devoted to answering homework questions. I am here to help and

this is your time to ask! I am here to help you learn the subject and I value any and all questions.
