Red Cross:

Te Kura provides for secondary students to attend Comprehensive First Aid Courses throughout the country. The Red Cross has training rooms throughout the country, and offers courses many times a month. Because of this we do not list each individual course.

Unit Standards:

Level 1: 6402 – Provide resuscitation (1 credit)

Level 2:6401 – Provide First Aid (1 credit)

Level 3:6400 – Manage first aid in emergency situations (2 credits)

About these courses:

Ideal for students interested in a career in the Trades and construction industry or STAR or Gateway students who need useful level 2 and 3 credits or knowledge and experience prior to work experience

How does it work?

• Students attend your local G&H Training Branch for four (4) full days.
• They complete practical projects in our fully equipped workshop to back up their theory learning (a different project to the one completed on Carpentry 1: Timber Machining).
• We will send your school study materials and worksheets for students to study prior to attending the course. Time is allowed on course for sitting the assessment.

About:

An interactive, action packed two day course teaches students key skills and knowledge in relationship management, performance management, and workplace organizational principles required of first line managers. Made up of three level three standards, this course is module one of the National Certificate in First Line Management and is perfect for students wanting to become Team Leaders, supervisors, or charge hands likely to be responsible for managing people, resources, and/or work operations.This course is also ideal for students that need to get out of their comfort zone and build confidence before leaving school.

Introduction to Barista Skills

About:

An introduction to foundation barista skills and the history of coffee, in this course students will learn how to use a commercial espresso machine and standard industry techniques.

Māori Art Drawing Techniques

Māori Art Design

About:

Whakairo

About:

Learn about your whakapapa through whakairo. You will gain a basic understanding of te ao Māori cultural concepts of whakapapa, mihimihi and whakawhanaungatanga. You will also get an introduction to whakairo surface patterns and carved applications as representations of your lineage.
