Standing Room Only at Open Days

There was standing room only when we held our business presentations in Brisbane and Melbourne during August, as students and parents turned out to source information and advice on the best courses for their dream career. Congratulations to the Brisbane and Melbourne business staff for their tremendous enthusiasm and hard work.

Hot Careers for 2013

Feedback from the students we met at the Open Days as well as from that compiled by MER’s National Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager, Liz Fisher, has helped us compile a list of students’ dream careers/courses for 2013. The top courses are: HRM, Marketing and Events, Global Business, Commerce and Law (Melbourne), Economics/Business Administration, and Accounting.

Early Achievers Program a Hit

During our Open Day events this year we have actively encouraged high achievers in community service and leadership, who have the right academic capabilities to apply for a place at ACU Business, through our EAP program. The feedback from parents and students about this program has been overwhelmingly positive. The benefits of the program for both students and the Faculty are equally rewarding. This year we hope the EAP program will enable the Faculty to increase its number of quality students in the face of some fierce competition from other universities. Applications for the EAP program close on October 21.

Marketing War for Undergraduates

The recruitment drive for undergraduate students this year is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely competitive and expensive this country has experienced. ACU’s mighty MER team is taking ACU’s marketing to new levels in the quest to attract students. As well, Faculty marketing has undertaken several additional initiatives, which we’ve summarised below.

  • Outdoor campaign at North Sydney and CBD train stations
  • Radio Advertising pitched at parents of UG students in Melbourne and Brisbane
  • Full suite of updated course flyers, brochures and banners.

On the postgraduate front, Faculty marketing highlights include:

  • Newspaper and trade magazine ads profiling the MBA & PG programs
  • Good University Guide sponsorship
  • Sponsorship of the Australian Financial Review’s National Energy Conference in Brisbane. March 2012
  • Sponsorship of the CPA Not-for-Profit conference in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne May 2012
  • Launch of the ACU Business Master Class series where potential PG candidates are invited to a one hour complimentary Master Class on a topical business issue, giving them a sample of the PG/MBA class experience at ACU Business. Thanks to professors Susan Dann, Don Ross, and Tony Ciro, for volunteering to facilitate the Master Class program this year.
  • Electronic direct marketing campaigns to promote and recruit for the MBA Executive program, followed up by individual MBA consultations.

Paying Tribute to our Staff

What is the most powerful marketing asset we have? YOU!

We often say at ACU our students are a “name” not a “number”. At our campus events and every day in so many ways, YOU make the difference! YOU make students feel welcome, empowered and appreciated.

Together all of us can make a positive contribution to raising the profile of our Faculty and we want to pay tribute to our staff for their promotional achievements. We are calling for nominations from the academic and professional teams across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. This is your time to be acknowledged for the excellent promotional contributions you make to help raise the profile of the Faculty. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone from the Faculty who you feel has gone above and beyond in successfully promoting the Faculty to students, industry or the community please email me . Outstanding contributions (both large and small) will be acknowledged at the annual Strategy Advance.
