COURSE DESCRIPTION:

·  This class is designed to provide students with a detailed understanding of living systems. Students will conduct controlled experiments, investigate scientific literature, and analyze interrelationships of living systems with the environment. The Biology SOL test will be administered in this class. Successful completion of the course and the Biology SOL test will result in a verified credit.

CLASS EXPECTATIONS:

• No food or drinks allowed.

• Always be prepared for class (in your seat and materials ready when the door closes). Bring book, notebook, and something to write with everyday.

• Do not handle or disturb anything that is not yours unless you are instructed.

• Be respectful of others.

• All grades will be updated weekly on Parent Portal.

CLASS SUPPLIES:

• Use a binder for this class. Keep only Biology in this notebook.

All work is to be dated and kept in order (including handouts, homework, labs, test, etc).

·  You will also be required to have a spiral notebook that will be kept in class for your daily bellringers. Not having one will result in a zero.

QUALITY OF WORK:

• All work must be neat and legible. If I cannot read your work, it will not be accepted.

• Answer all questions in complete sentences, and use coherent thoughts.

HOMEWORK:

• Homework will be assigned based on the amount of information covered and completed in class each day.

ATTENDANCE:

• See school policy.

DUE DATES :

·  Your work is expected to be turned in at the beginning of class. Late work will not be accepted, and you will receive a zero for that assignment.

MAKE UP WORK:

• When you miss work due to an absence, you have the number of days missed from class to make up the assignment or, make an arrangement with Ms. Long. This applies to test and quizzes only. All other work is expected to be turned in on or before the due date.

ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:

·  Students who violate the honor code, represents another’s work as their own, plagiarize, copy work, or fabricate data will receive a zero on the assignment. Handbook procedures will be followed.
