John Bussman is currently the Manager, Reliability Compliance at Associated Electric Cooperative Inc., His responsibilities include the management and coordination of all activities within the Reliability Compliance department. The primary areas of technical responsibility and activities are focused around NERC compliance associated with the Reliability Standards. The position is responsible for ensuring compliance procedures are produced, reviewed and revised as needed and required for all standards applicable to Associated set by the North American Electrical Reliability Corporation (NERC) and the SERC Reliability Corporation.

John was a member of the Engineering Compliance Advisory Group (ECAG) and Operation Compliance Advisory Group (OCAG) at SERC Corporation. He was the vice chairman of ECAG prior to SERC dismantling these groups in early 2010. John was an active participant with the SERC Engineering Committee and continues to take a very active role in the standards process. He recently had been participating on the CIP Standards Drafting Team as an observer for CIP-002 Version 4.

John has a diverse background in the area of Compliance requirements. Prior to taking his current position, he worked in Transmission Planning for two years. Prior to this he worked in the Nuclear Industry for 18 years with Sergeant & Lundy and Public Service Electric and Gas in New Jersey as a Project Manager and Project Engineer. He is a Veteran of the USAF and has a BSEE from the University of New Haven and has a current Professional Engineering License with the state of Missouri.
