HIMAA Stakeholder Engagement Strategy

HIMAA has undertaken a review of what it considers to be its stakeholders and assessed each stakeholder in relation to HIMAA’s identified Strategic Areas, which are as follows:

Strategic Area / Strategic Objective
Membership / To expand the membership base of HIMAA to include individuals who are engaged in, involved in, or affiliated with the health information management field or a related field.
Positioning & Advocacy / To promote our members as the universally recognised specialists in information management at all levels of the healthcare system.
Knowledge Domain / Utilise the HIM knowledge domain to differentiate the profession and reinforce other strategic objectives (positioning & advocacy, PD and membership).
Professional Development / Provide relevant, current Professional Development opportunities to our members across our Body of Knowledge.
Communication / To ensure HIMAA effectively communicates with our members, healthcare policy makers and more broadly with those involved in information management in healthcare.
Education Services / To deliver accredited courses across the HIM knowledge domain that are flexible to meet the demand for education and training.
Organisational Structure / To ensure the organisation structure and function is set up to implement/attain the strategic goals.

The relevance/significance of each stakeholder to one or more Strategic Area is reflected in a grading from 1 – 3, where 1 is the highest relevance/significance and 3 is the least relevance/significance, per the table below.

The stakeholder list is reviewed annually.
