Purpose / The purpose of this activity is to familiarize the trainee with the proper installation and use of child car safety seats. Trainee should complete this activity prior to transporting any child in his/her personal car.
At the completion of this stage, the trainee should have the basis for his/her Community Resource Guide.
Supervisor/ Training Coordinator / Direct participant Review the website http://www.aap.org/family/carseatguide.htm
Assist the trainee in identifying which agency in your community that provides a service to check for correct installation of the child car safety seat and have the installation of the agency child car safety seat in his/her vehicle checked.
  Assure that the trainee has the information necessary to make contact with the community resource.
  Provide a copy of the activity worksheet and resource page.
Trainee / Complete the online training: The CPS Worker: Making a Case for http://www.aap.org/family/carseatguide.htm . You are encouraged to print this Car Safety Guide for your Community Resource Guide. Be sure to follow the printing instructions for changing your margin settings or the guide will not be complete.
Determine which agency in your community provides a service to check for correct installation of the child car safety seat and have the installation of the agency child car safety seat in your vehicle checked.
Determine which agency in your community provides child car safety seats for low income families.
Compete the Community Resource Sheet for those agencies. hours.
  Ask questions and request clarification as needed to complete this worksheet and Resource Sheet.
The trainee has completed the worksheet, demonstrated satisfactory comprehension of the subject and received feedback from the supervisor/training coordinator and/or field practice advisor.
