Staff Development Meeting

Minutes 10/30/08

Present: Susan Rhi-Kleinert, Young-Ji Lee, Ed Zayas, Yoon Yun, Suzane Mignosi, Vilma Bernal

Absent: Adolfo Espinosa, Mike Climo

Guest: David Jordan

Revising Charter:

The committee reviewed the charter and further changes have been made. No approval was done at this time as the committee needs more time to review document. Vilma to email electronic copy for further review.

Guest Speakers:

David Jordan presented four potential speaker for Faculty Academy or other workshops. He introduces Deborah Kaye, Mickey Hong from City College, Ozzie Madrigal from University of La Verne, and Estelle Bensimon from USC.

Debra Kaye and Estelle Bensimon will be contacted and invited to present at the Faculty Academy sessions. The committee thought that the other presenters could be invited for the spring. David Jordan and Susan Rhi-Kleinert will look at the possibilities of paying some of these presenters some type of stipends.

Holiday Party:

The committee is recommending having the Holiday party on Monday December 8th. Vilma to talk to culinary and bring it to College council for approval. The following are tasks in preparation for this event:

  1. Santa Clause – Suzanne to ask her daughter Millisa to be Santa Clause this year.
  2. Ask Child Development to bring kids and sing at the event - Yoon
  3. Ask ASO about the “Toys for Tots” and possible student performances – Young
  4. Caroling – Vilma
  5. Food and price (talk to culinary and setting menu and price) – Vilma
  6. Raffle Items – Susan and all members of committee
  7. Gifts for kids from Child Development - Vilma

Spring Workshops:

We are still working on this schedule. The committee would like to bring more professional workshops hosted by Horizon and technology workshops.

Next meeting is November 6th at 12:00 in CSB 102B. Meeting was adjourned at 1:30pm.
