33 Days to Morning Glory retreat – Dottie has done this retreat in the past, and it is a Marian retreat which will allow us to become closer with Mary. The feast of the ????? is when we can consecrate ourselves.
Mercy Reigns, our parish mission, is three nights long from 7:00-8:30. We are being asked to serve cookies on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is in two weeks. Each night is a different intention, but it is a parish wide event.
Holy Week and Triduum Evaluation:
Palm Sunday – We will pick the lectors for the Passion next year. Missed having palms not in the sanctuary. With the large palm trees and the red banners we thought it would be enough. Nobody seemed upset whether or not the palms were blessed when they got them.
Holy Thursday – Loved the music for the Washing of the Feet. Procession with the Oils seemed to take longer than usual. Suggest music be played between the presentation of each oil.. There were 59 people with their feet washed. This was more than last year. Filling the pitchers with hot water ten minutes prior to Mass worked well and kept the water warm throughout Mass.
The procession to the Chapel seemed to go well and a lot of people were in the Chapel. Some of the congregation seemed to forget the request to leave church in silence. We did not have the full compliment of Eucharistic Ministers scheduled and we needed all twelve. Need to be aware of this next year to alleviate confusion.
Good Friday – The addition of the evening service was well worth the effort. Stations took a long time, but this is solved by telling everyone 6-7 is Stations. Attendance was great. Choir should take the opportunity to venerate the cross. We want to use the big cross in the future.
Holy Saturday Morning Prayer – Only the elect attended.
Easter Vigil – Music was excellent. During the Litany of the Saints, the procession to the font could have taken a longer route instead of half the church. The pool could not be seen, but could be heard. It is great for the Easter Vigil, but we need to work on making it more visible in the church.
It was nice to have some dim light in the church as we negan, and the beeswax candles did wonderfully. Next year maybe we can light candles in the middle of the procession rather than at the end.
Easter Sunday – 9:30 was wonderful but we need to make sure Lectors’ seats need to be reserved. Easter egg hunt went well. 8:00 mass wasn’t over with when people started arriving for 9:30.
Next meeting is May 2, 2016.
Closing Prayer was said.
Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
