YWCA Knoxville Launches New Text Marketing Service

KNOXVILLE (November 28, 2012) – The YWCA Knoxville has announced the launch of their new text marketing service that will allow the organization to communicate with their low-income clients, volunteers, and donors through their mobile devices using instant controlled text messaging.

Tatango is a U.S mobile group communication service that allows businesses and organizations to send free mass messages directly to anyone with a mobile device. The service was created in October of 2007 by CEO Derek Johnson while attending the University of Houston’s Bauer College of Business. Tatango further helps to engage new customers, boost customer interactions, and increase customer loyalty through the use of SMS Marketing.

“I am extremely excited to launch our text messaging marketing service to the community, says Director of Business Operations & Fund Development, Danielle Benson. With text messaging as prevalent as it is, we will be able to effectively communicate important events, opportunities, and updates to our subscribers directly. This is an excellent way for us as an organization to strengthen our community engagement network by communicating to our clients and supporters on a more personal level. Anyone who is interested in receiving our text alerts can easily opt in by texting YWCA to 68398.”

The YWCA has created several segmented groups that allow subscribers to choose which type of messages they wish to receive. The options include volunteer needs, general YWCA information, advocacy efforts, messaging for parents and children of the After-School Program, health and wellness information, diversity initiatives and even a group for the female teen leadership group Y-Teens.

The YWCA is a nonprofit organization that has been helping women and their families in Knoxville for 108 years. Strengthened by diversity, YWCA Knoxville draws together members who strive to create opportunities for women’s growth, leadership, and power in order to attain a common vision: peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people.
