INTRODUCTION

This Job Description is for X X, whose responsibilities are Wrap-Around-Care Assistant. It should be understood that areas of responsibility might have to be reallocated in order to maintain the effective and efficient deployment of staff within the Nursery.

You are responsible to the Breakfast Club Leader and Wrap-Around-Care Supervisor, as your line managers and ultimately to the Board of Directors.

Your purpose is to work as a Wrap-Around-Care Assistant as part of the nursery team under the direction of the relevant Supervisor to provide safe, high quality care for young children, maintaining a stimulating and enjoyable environment.

WRAP-AROUND-CARE ASSISTANT’S RESPONSIBILITIES
  • To help set up the playroom/s for the daily programme and to help tidy away at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times.
  • To contribute, if required, to tracking children’s development by taking photos and making notes for the relevant Key Worker.
  • Liaising with parents/carers and ensuring each child's needs are recognised and met.
  • To advise the Supervisor of any concerns e.g. over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment, preserving confidentiality as necessary.
  • To be aware of any special needs a child may have and to familiarise oneself with relevant play and learning plans.
  • To care for children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation.
  • To attend staff meetings as required.
  • To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required.
  • To keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff.
  • To keep up-to-date with current good practice.
  • To prepare and serve food and beverages appropriate to the time of day.
  • To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor.

REMUNERATION

You will be paid within the Wrap Around Care Worker scale of £6.50 to £8.00 per hour; your pay will be reviewed annually as part of your performance review.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  1. A good standard of general education including GCSE grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent
  2. A satisfactory enhanced CRB check which confirms suitability to work with children.
  3. Previous experience of working with young children.
  4. A flexible approach to working hours
