St. Patrick’s B.N.S., Hollypark

Dear Parents,

The weeks are rushing by and there is a great buzz around the school. The boys from 1st to 6th classes were charmed by the performances of their younger schoolmates in the Junior Infant and Senior Infant dress rehearsals today. Parents – you are in for a real treat, tomorrow. The costumes you have made are very impressive.

A reminder – space in our hall is seriously limited. We cannot accommodate buggies or school going siblings – brothers and sisters! Chairs will be for adults only. Our older boys will be attending dress rehearsals only and will see their brothers perform then.

Similarly places are limited for the 6th class Carol service on Monday night, December 12th

(7 .30pm) for the same reason. Thank you for your understanding in this regard.

All orders and monies for DVDs of the shows (thanks to Mr. Ryan) need to be in by Wednesday 14th December.(5 euros)

Our 1st class boys have been doing a lot of singing with Miss Murray and we look forward to seeing them perform for their parents on Tuesday 20th December at 9.30am. We are blessed with such talented staff. Miss Murray, herself, will present ‘A Christmas Family Gala’ in The National Concert Hall on Sunday 11th December– matinee at 3.00pm – evening show at 7.00pm. Miss Murray will be performing in the show also. Tickets available on the NCH website.

Our 4th, 5th and 6th class boys will represent the school at the 10.00am Mass in Foxrock Church tomorrow.

Well done to Matthew McGrath (1st) who achieved first class honours in his recent Leinster Speech and Drama exams and congratulations to Oisín Gormley (3rd), who achieved first class honours also but was awarded a medal for achieving the highest marks in his grade.

Our Parents’ Association Committee has been spreading their energy and enthusiasm, much to the delight of our boys. They decorated the school yesterday with great efficiency and style. Now we cannot deny that Christmas will be upon us soon!

Our younger boys are already counting sleeps left and my daily Fun Book 1st class boys are getting very excited! We are fortunate to be in this happy positive environment. There is beautiful Christmas art on display throughout the school, if you would like to get yourself in the mood!

Our boys are very enthused about giving to our twin school – St. Patrick’s, Kawese, Kenya . Each double class level is bringing specific items to fill boxes in school. This aspect of the venture is going very well. We’re also hoping to raise enough money to buy more serious resources eg: fund a teacher for a month or help build a classroom. The boys will raise money by doing jobs. They are very experienced at doing jobs, at this stage.

Punctuality or lack of it is becoming an issue in some classes. School starts at 8.40am. At the Junior end of the school – your sons are missing vital directed social interaction time. From 1st to 6th your sons are missing important homework checking and set up for the day ahead. When your son is arriving in late – he is being put at an unnecessary disadvantage.

Important note regarding rules of the road and health and safety issues at collection time – on the back of this letter.

Le dea-ghuí,

Helen Kelly
