6.30 pm / Opening Parade / Flags
6.40 pm / Game: Modes of Transport
Set up four parts of the hall as train, car, ferry and plane. In the middle of the hall set up chairs back to back - these are the seats on the bus. When you call out train, car, ferry or plane the Joeys run to that part of the hall. When you call out BUS STOP - they have to find a seat on the bus.
Variation - can take seats away and those that do not find a seat are out - or they have to share a seat. / Transport mode pictures taped to four walls of the hall, chairs for bus - in middle of the hall - one per Joey
6.50 pm / Game: Move the Cargo
Divide the Joeys into 2 teams, and line up in relay formation, with a hoop near each team. At the opposite end of the hall is the cargo - one for each Joey.
Put together 2 scooter boards per team. The first is the driver's carriage, and the back is where the cargo is loaded. On "go" the first Joey in each team, boards their train, moves it down to the end of the hall, picks up one piece of cargo and places it in their team hoop. If their cargo falls out of the carriage they must stop and reload it.
Repeat until all Joeys have had a turn and all their cargo is in their team hoop. Winning team is the one that has all their cargo in the hoop and are sitting back in relay formation - in a straight line with one hand in the air. / 2 x hoops, Scooter boards, connectors and cargo (sponges) - enough for each Joey.
7.00 pm / Craft: Balloon Cars
Joeys to decorate their car by colouring and adding stickers. Add the axels and wheels, and tape the balloon/straw to the car. How far will it go?
See separate file for more information. / Cardboard - pre-cut, straws, wooden skewers, bottle tops, duct tape, textas, stickers, balloons, scissors
7.15 pm / Game: Start Your Engines
Joeys in 2 teams, in relay formation. Place the race track in the middle of the hall, with one end raised on a table or bench. On "go" a Joey from each team runs to the race track, pushes a car down the track, then collects the car, and hands it to the next Joey in their team.
Repeat until all Joeys have had a turn, and Joeys are back in relay formation - in a straight line with one hand in the air. / Kangaroo
Cheng / Race track, table or bench, cars
7.20 pm / Game: Red Light, Green Light
The Joeys all stand in a line behind a rope. About 10 metres away from them put out another rope and that's where the Police Officer gets to stand. The Police Officer needs to be with their back to the line of Joeys. The Officer then shouts "green light!" and that's when the Joeys need to start running towards the Officer. Right after yelling "green light", the Officer counts a few seconds and yells out "red light!" and quickly turns around (once the Joeys hear "red light" they need to stop/freeze). If the Police Officer catches anyone moving, they must return to the starting line. This continues until one of the Joeys succeeds in crossing the line while the Police Officer's back is turned. / Dingo
Collins / 2 x pieces of rope - or chalk if playing inside
Play outside if possible.

Game: Guards and Passengers
Joeys in pairs, one holds on behind the other. Moving in pairs carefully around the hall. Two Joeys are “in” one is the passenger, and one is the guard who has to catch him. The passenger runs around trying to catch hold of the back of a train. When he does the engine in front has to leave and catch another train. Periodically swap around the passenger and the guard. / Nil
Game: Make a Train
Divide the Joeys into 2 teams. First Joey is the engine, they run down the hall around a chair and back to the line and pick up a passenger who must hold on to their waist/shirt and run down with them down the hall and around the chair and back to pick up the next passenger until all passengers are in a long snake/train and have been on the trip down the hall and back. / Chairs
