WHAT IS A CHILD CONTACT CENTRE?

A child contact centre is a meeting place where children of separated families can enjoy contact with one (or both) parents and sometimes other family members in a comfortable and safe environment. It is estimated that 2,000 children in the UK use Child Contact Centres each week. Our Equal Opportunities Policy promotes diversity and we are experienced at working with clients from various religious and cultural backgrounds.

SUPERVISED CONTACT

Supervised contact ensures the physical safety and emotional well being of a child who has been removed from the family home or who has had one of their main carers excluded. Our worker remains with the family at all times, monitoring conversations and observing behaviour and a factual report is provided following each session. This is often used to inform the Court in determining what is best for the child.

SUPPORTED CONTACT

We offer a safe, friendly and neutral place where children and families can relax and enjoy themselves. A range of toys, books and games for all ages are provided. Staff are on hand to offer support and guidance.

HANDOVER

Handovers can be either discreet or open.

HOW IS THE CENTRE RUN?

A Contact Manager and a team of trained staff run the centre, working within a strict confidentiality and safety policy. All our supervisors are skilled and confident enough to intervene immediately if necessary and can work professionally in a planned way with vulnerable children and adults. We work towards high quality NACCC standards. Our contact rooms offer discreet private facilities. All rooms are child and family centred with a selection of high quality age appropriate toys and games.

The most important people at the Child Contact Centre are the children and we aim to give the child the tools and confidence to know what is happening to their family, help them cope with it and allow them the time to move on.You can talk to any of the people who work here about anything you want to, but if anything you tell them or anything that they witness gives them cause for concern, they will have to tell someone else about it. We will not tell anyone without first telling you.

If you do have any complaints about our service we have an official procedure in place. Please see attached leaflet.
