DIRECTOR OF CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

At Springfield First, children’s ministry is about helping kids become disciples of Jesus that transform this world. As a growing church of 1,200 in weekly attendance, we are looking for an experienced leader to oversee our KidLife ministry for those birth through fifth grade and their families. Desired Qualifications

  • A tested love for God, a humble spirit, and a commitment to prayer as a deeply devoted disciple of Jesus
  • Deep affinity with the mission, vision, and core values of Springfield First United Methodist Church
  • Clear vision of children’s ministry
  • Ability to inspire and equip others
  • Heart for ministry demonstrated by a proven ability to work with a wide range of people in a church ministry setting
  • Experience in building dynamic ministry teams for children, birth through fifth grade
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role in ministry or children’s education
  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in related field

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all ministries for children, particularly Wednesday night mid-week and weekends
  • Oversee and coordinate with the Early Childhood Coordinator who manages infants to 5 year olds
  • Cast a clear and compelling vision for children’s ministry
  • Envision, enlist, equip and encourage volunteers for their ministries
  • Partner with the Director of StudentLife to develop an integrated program for children and youth
  • Select and evaluate curriculum
  • Strategically plan with parents, children, and the KidLife leadership team to grow the ministry
  • Plan and implement a vacation bible school in the summer
  • Effectively communicate with parents
  • Ensure that the area used for the children’s ministry is appropriate, safe, functional and appealing to children and parents
