THE DARRELL RUSSELL 10TH ANNUAL SPORTSMAN GOLF TOURNAMENT

Throughout his career Darrell Russell represented the passion, camaraderie and competitive spirit that are the heart and soul of NHRA drag racing. Never were these qualities more apparent than in Darrell’s thirteen years as a sportsman racer. To honor Darrell’s excellence as a sportsman racer, and with the blessing of the Russell Family, we have permanently renamed our annual golf tournament “THE DARRELL RUSSELL SPORTSMAN GOLF TOURNAMENT”.
This year’s tournament is proudly presented by our friends at O’Reilly Auto Parts, but we still need your help to make the event bigger and better than ever before. All profits from the tournament will be donated in Darrell Russell’s name to Big Brothers Big Sisters and DRAW (Drag Racing Association of Women) to help fund the work they are doing to improve NHRA Sportsman racing.
Listed below are several different ways you can become involved. You can become a corporate sponsor, sponsor a hole, or simply participate. Regardless of how you choose to participate you can be assured that you are helping a worthy cause, and you will have a great time in the process. So please join us for a great day of fun and festivities with your friends, competitors, and sponsors.
The tournament will be held Thursday, March 27th, 2008 at noon and the tournament is open to all racers, crew members, NHRA and sponsors. The event will be held at Eagle Pointe Golf Club just 10 minutes from HoustonRacewayPark in Mont Belvieu, Texas. The event is planned to encourage better communication between people in our sport and to create new friendships. The event is a scramble type format which gives all a chance to play and learn, no previous experience is necessary, a set of golf clubs are the only requirement. Following the tournament there will be an awards presentation ceremony at the clubhouse with dinner.
