Sports Premium Grant Evaluation 2016 - 2017

Background:

The government has provided additional funding to primary schools in order to improve provision in physical education and sport. This is based on the number of children on roll. Every school is accountable for how the money is spent in regard to promoting healthy lifestyles and the impact it has had on pupils’ participation and progress.

The total allocation for St Mary’s in 2016-2017 is £9830

Total expenditure: £13,201. This does not excluding the cost of releasing staff to attend competitions or subsidies for disadvantaged children.

Free after school clubs and support for those with financial difficulties to attend clubs.
Children who are eligible for the Pupil Premium Grant receive funding to attend clubs of their choice.

The impact of sport provision has had a positive impact on pupils’ attitudes, enthusiasm and inclusion. Feedback from pupils via School Council has been positive.

To continue with teachers taking responsibility for various areas of PE curriculum and developing class teaching. PE teacher to work alongside to support in lessons.

To provide more non competitive activities to keep pupils active. / New links with Lovegrove Hockey Academy and raising awareness in school. Equipment bought to develop focus on this area in curriculum and after school club.
Lunchtime clubs have been developed to include all pupils across KS1 and KS2 . / Club is very well attended and to build on pupil participation through supporting staff with training and resources.
To develop lacrosse and golf (new equipment) through staff members expertise.

Sainsbury’s School Silver Award
Increased number of borough competitions attended achieving high positions in many sports.
Y5/6 girls’ football team has excelled throughout the season winning the Bromley borough league and cup.
Sports coach has organised B and C team festivals in football. Cricket league matches includes all abilities.
Cross country at Crystal Palace is open to all KS2 pupils.
Many pupils chosen for teams based on effort and enthusiasm regardless of ability.
Pupils have been given opportunities to trial for teams.
Pupils joining local clubs. Beckenham cricket,tennis and hockey clubs continue to have good links with the school. / To increase inclusion of pupil participation at all levels in a wider range of sports.
Pupil achievements continue to be celebrated as encouragement to others through school website, assemblies and sports board.
