Sports Activator ROLE 2017/18

Average Hours Per Week: / Flexible, approximately 8 hours per week during term time.
Desirable, but not essential, availability for Wednesday afternoons.
Responsible to: / Student Sports Coordinator
Location: / Based out of the Sports Office at Carnegie Sports Centre, Headingley Campus, but can include working at other sites and locations within the University. Visits to other locations both in Leeds, and to other parts of the country, may also be required periodically.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties will vary slightly according to the time of the year and the programme of activities. The list below should not be regarded as exhaustive. The main duties of this role include:
- To assist the Sports Office staff in the logistics of planning and delivering major Sport & Active Lifestyle events, including the annual Varsity calendar, Freshers’ Fair, and the University’s Sports Awards Evening.
- To help increase university-wide engagement inthe Sport & Active Lifestyles offer.
- To assist with social media developments and marketing promotion linked to a range of activities and programmes.
- To assist the Club Development Officer and Club Development Administrator with support for the various BUCS-programmes and competitions.
- To engage with the student population through various forms of communication, in order to promote the range of opportunities available through Sport & Active Lifestyles.
- To assist the Sports Development Officers by promoting and supporting both their Campus Sport and Junior programmes.
- To help coordinate the intramural league programmes on campus.
- To help enhance the sporting experience at Leeds Beckett and help raise the profile of sport at the institution.
- To assist the Club Development Officer in coordinating the city-wide Leeds Sports Awards event alongside Sport Leeds, Leeds Sports Federation and the associated events company and partners.
- To assist with participant data collection and analysis of a range of different Sport & Active Lifestyles customers and their associated engagement with our various programmes, courses and activities.
- Attend weekly team meetings with the Sports Office team or other appropriate teams.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The criteria for this role include:
- An understanding of the Sport & Active Lifestyles’ facilities, services and programmes available to students, staff and customers of the University.
- A willingness to help deliverthe Sport & Active Lifestyle’s strategic aims and objectives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and computer literacy.
- Ability to developsocial networks and promote the department to the wider University.
- The ability to work both independently unsupervised, and as part of a wider team.
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to think fast and proactively in challenging situations.
- Experience of working, volunteering, participating or coaching in a sporting environment.
- Flexible, hard-working anda willingness to help achieve agreedobjectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- A student at Leeds Beckett University for the full 2017/18 academic year.
