Objectives:
  1. Identify at least three factors that have contributed to the lack of preparedness if individuals completing general surgery residency programs to independently practice the full spectrum of the specialty.
  2. Identify at least three factors that have contributed to the lack of appropriate resident supervision.
  3. Describe the CMS rules for billing of Medicare patients for surgical procedures in a teaching setting.
