PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Job Title:Performance Analyst (SI/007)

Responsible to: Head of Performance Skills (SI/005)

Qualifications and Attainments

Essential Criteria

*A qualification at degreelevel in Sports Science specialising in the area of performance analysis or equivalent qualification in a related subject (e.g, Biomechanics, Engineering, Mathematics).

Desirable Criteria

**A post-graduate qualification in Performance Analysis.

Previous Experience / Training

Essential Criteria

*3 years Full time (or part time equivalent) experience in providing Performance Analysis support to athletes and coaches to improve performance with at least 1 year in a high performance sporting environment.

*Experience in analysing the demands of a sport in relation to their Performance Analysis needs in order to develop, implement and evaluate programmes for individual athletes within these sports.

Desirable Criteria

**Demonstrable evidence including the creation of valid and reliable data collection systems directed by sports needs to capture pertinent performance impacting data.

**Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team in the delivery of performance analysis services to high performance athletes and coaches.

**Experience of dealing with national performance programmes within National Governing Bodies of sport.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Criteria

*Demonstrated working knowledge and application of a range of computer analysis systems and software packages used within the performance analysis discipline. This will include producing reports and case examples on a variety of media.

Demonstrated ability to support athletes and coaches using video streaming technology.

Understanding of the Performance Analysis issues relevant to high performance sport.

Knowledge of Performance Analysis support appropriate to the needs of high performance athletes both in training and competition.

An understanding of the various sports science and sports medicine disciplines.

Ability to critically appraise scientific methodology and data.

Ability to influence athletes and coaches to support programmes that impact on performance.

Ability to communicate complex data in terms that are easily understood by a wide range of audiences.

Good communication and presentation skills.

An interest in sport and recognition of the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and anti-doping within sport.

Sound organisational and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure, prioritising own workload.

Excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

Desirable Criteria

An understanding of the elite sporting environment.

An understanding of the needs of elite athletes and coaches in a high performance environment.

Understanding of the coaching and training process and also of athletic performance in terms of periodisation and peaking.

Skilled in building and maintaining productive relationships with high performance staff within national governing bodies of sport.

Have travelled as part of a team to a major competition or training camp relevant to performance sport.

Have coaching experience in at least one sport.

4.0 OTHER FACTORS

Essential Criteria

Ability to contribute to SNI strategic objectives.

*A willingness to work irregular and unsocial hours as required, involving work outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

*Access to a form of transport that will permit the post holder to meet the requirements of the post in full.
