Welcome to Live Fit!

The challenge is set to begin on January 19th. Prior to beginning the campaign, please take some time to review the materials. Everything that you and your team members need to successfully complete this wellness challenge is included.

The aim of this 7-week challenge is for team members to work together to inspire and support one another to complete a variety of cardiovascular exercise activities, and establish a regular habit of cardiovascular exercise.

As Team Captain, you are responsible for collecting exercise activity information each week from team members and reporting the totals to your Campus Wellness Lead, Lisa Wilkinson (). Encourage your team members to do their best each week. Rally the team together to create friendly competition with the other Live Fit teams. Remember, there is a Grand Prize for the team with the most points!

It is your responsibility to:

1.  Provide team members with a list of the Suggested Activities each week. These will be available through the weekly email sent by the Change Your Life team.

2.  Assign a different physical activity to each team member. Participants can make substitutions (with your approval) for the weekly Suggested Activities with activities listed in the Activity Bank. Please encourage your teammates to make their activity a real cardiovascular effort no matter what activity they do. The point of the Live Fit challenge is to increase their level of exercise.

3.  Coordinate (or appoint a member of your team to coordinate) the Team Bonus activities. These will be simple activities to complete as a group to earn extra bonus points for your team.

4.  Record the team member activities each week on the Captain Team Tracker. There will be one Captain Team Tracker per week.

5.  Send the completed weekly Team Tracker form by the following Wednesday to Campus Wellness Lead, Lisa Wilkinson ().

The top ten teams for points and the top ten teams for pedometer steps will be reported each week.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

·  Live Fit activities must be performed for at least 15 continuous minutes to count.

·  The aim is for all team members to contribute to the completion of these unique activities whenever possible.

The Live Fit Challenge concludes on March 8th. If you should have any questions about the Live Fit Challenge, please contact Lisa Wilkinson () 586-4480. Best of luck to all teams!

Best of Health,

-The Change Your Life team

Team Captain Tips:

·  Don’t see your team members every day? Wondering how you will track them down?

Post your Captain Team Tracker on a team board, or other accessible area, so that team members can enter their weekly totals themselves. You can tally the points at the end of the week, and send to the Campus Wellness Lead.

·  Decide what the best way of communicating with your team is, for example: - email, team board in the department, team huddle meetings, etc... You will be using your favorite method to communicate with your team, assign activities, and complete team bonus points opportunities.

·  Need to motivate your team? Think of ways to get your team together. Social interaction and camaraderie go a long way in helping each other achieve fitness goals
