Spiderman saves the day!

Fireman dresses up as Spiderman in an attempt to save an autistic boy.

A brave fireman helped save an eight-year-old boy who climbed out his third story classroom window, after teachers contacted the fire service looking for help.

The terrified boy climbed out of the window and refused to come back in, despite efforts made by his mother and the firefighters. All attempts to save the eight year old had failed and everyone had almost given up hope.

However, once his mother mentioned his love of comic book heroes one fireman, Somachi Yoosabai rushed to the fire station and grabbed a Spider-man costume that was in his locker. He uses these to make school fire drills more exiting and interesting for the children.

He changed into the costume and sprang into action as he saved the young boy. The boy was exited to see a real life superhero coming to his rescue, and clung to ‘Spiderman’ as he helped him down from the third story window ledge. The fireman hugged the boy before handing him over to his mother. This lucky boy is the second child to be saved by a real-life.

Pupils of Saint Roch’s Secondary commented on the story. One pupil Shannon (14) said: “I think the fireman was very brave and his quick thinking helped save the little boy.”

Meanwhile, Amy (14) said: I think that the fireman was a real hero that day and he deserves lots of praise.”

Also, Alan Forbes who is the public affairs manager at Strathclyde fire and rescue told us: “I think firefighters use their initiative in all sorts of situations.

“This is an outstanding example of that, in the way the Thai fire-fighter used his imagination to solve a very difficult problem with this wee boy.”
