Memory: We will be working on the books of the Bible. We will be beginning with the Old Testament and work our way to the end of the Bible. The books of the Bible will be tested orally, not written like we have been doing. Please work on the pronunciation of each book with your child. This week’s memory is the first eight books of the Old Testament.
Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth
Classroom News:
- Thank you for my wonderful Valentine’s Day cards and gifts. You made the day extra special.
- Please note that due to the holiday and our field trip, there will be no Spelling Relay or Acc. Math this week.
- We are looking forward to our Mighty Ducks Field Trip on Tuesday, February 17th. Learning about Math and Science through their educational workbooks/program has been fun!
- This Thursday is our Open House/Curriculum Fair for Science and Math, and Religion. Please plan on joining us – tour our classroom as well as the other rooms; it is an excellent opportunity to see upcoming projects in grades four and five. This event is from 6pm to 7:30pm. No paper homework will be given on Thursday evening; please do study for our Spelling and Memory Tests as usual.
- By this time in the year, students should be getting more comfortable with writing in cursive. In the fourth quarter, much of our work will be done in cursive to prepare the students for fourth grade. Ask your child to practice cursive at home. We are currently working through the capital letters. The students should be able to recognize and write the letters without having to look at the cursive alphabet. Please emphasize neatness and fluidity.
- This Wednesday is ASH WEDNESDAY – this special day marks the beginning of Lent. Please join us for worship at St. Paul’s. We have a soup/salad supper beginning at 5:45 p.m. in the church gym. The Worship Service begins at 7 p.m. Students in grade three will not have homework this evening.
- We will be rejoicing for the “Special Friends” in our lives on March 6th.In the near future, students will be sending home invitations to invite a special friend who is 18 years or older to participate in chapel, classroom activities, and campus wide activities. The festivities will be from about 7:55-12:00 for middle school and 8:15-12:00 for K-5.Please remember parking is at a minimum and we are asking for you to leave extra time to park at the church and walk to the school campus and save the school parking lot for elderly special friends or friends who need assistance
- Last Thursday, our students had the opportunity to choose their library book for our next book report; this is a FREE CHOICE book report; please keep in mind that books must be approved by the classroom teacher AND books must be in the student’s AR Book Level. There will be no duplicate books. We will be handing out the materials beginning Wednesday, once students are positive they like their chosen books. Students will be sharing their book as they complete a “Book in a Bag” Project. This report, which is both written and oral, is worth 70 points. Please follow instructions and take your time when completing this report. Students may start working on this project once they receive their materials. The book report is due Wednesday, March 18th.
- Yearbook Ads create a special memory for your child by creating a 1/8th page to full page ad to express words of love, faith and encouragement. Every student at St. Paul’s receives a yearbook at the end of the school year. If you would like to create a yearbook ad for your child/children, please turn in your order form by February 27th; the form can be downloaded off of the current “News You Can Use” Weekly Reminder. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Sheets, our Yearbook Advisor.
- Our class was blessed to have Mr. Lara, St. Paul’s Music Teacher, join us last Thursday during our Reading Period. He helped us review our story, “Pepita Talks Twice”. Mr. Lara shared his Spanish skills and read our story to us in Spanish.
