Mount Vernon Excursion Cruise-Sunday, July 5

Details

  • Depart from Lobby at 7:15 AM
  • Board boat at 8:15 AM
  • Boat leaves at 8:30 AM

Getting There

  • Walk from Renaissance to Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Stop and board Green Line Metro to Waterfront (Green Line to Branch Avenue). Cost is $2.15 one-way using a fare card
  • If taking taxi, use 6th and Water Street as the address.
  • We will be departing from Pier 4

Notes

  • Do not bring any food or drink on board the Metro
  • Backpacks are strictly prohibited inside Mount Vernon and the boat will not have storage facilities available
  • Attire should be casual and comfortable
  • Ensure that you have money for lunch at Mt. Vernon; there are multiple food options available.

Arlington Cemetery Wreath Laying-Sunday, July 5

  • Depart from Lobby by 5:15
  • Depart from Waterfront by 5:15
  • Wreath Laying takes place at 6:15

Getting There

  • If leaving from Hotel, walk from Renaissance to Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro Stop and board Yellow Line Metro to Pentagon (Yellow Line Train to Huntington). Then board Blue Line Train to Arlington Cemetery (Blue Line to Largo Town Center). Cost is $2.20 one-way using a fare card
  • If leaving from Waterfront,take Green Line Metro to L’Enfant Plaza (Green Line to Greenbelt). Then board Blue Line Train to Arlington Cemetery (Blue Line to Franconia-Springfield). Cost is $2.30 one-way using a fare card
  • If taking taxi, use Arlington Cemetery as the location.

  • Walk .4 miles to Dirksen Senate Office Building, crossing drives in front of Union Station.
  • Event will take place in the basement of this building and breakfast can be purchased down the hall

  • Walk .5 miles down Louisiana Avenue toward Capitol Steps, crossing drives in front of Union Station.

  • The tentative outline for the day as provided by Nationals is

7:30 AM: Recommended hotel departure to arrive at the Capitol steps by 8:30 AM

7:30-8:30 AM: Travel time - transportation is on own via the metro

9:30-11:30 AM: Capitol Hill visits by state officer teams

9:30-11:30 AM: Some suggested activities for attendees not going on Capitol Hill visits include touring the Library of Congress, visiting the Botanical Gardens or a self-guidedLeadership Scavenger hunt at the Smithsonian museums as you make way back to convention center.

12:30 PM:Breakout sessions start at the convention center

Nebraska Capitol Tours-Wednesday, July 8

  • Tours begin at 2:00, 2:10, and 2:20 (groups of 70)
  • Depart from Lobby at 1:00 PM
