Campaigns and Community Job Description

JOB TITLE: Campaigns Manager

ACCOUNTABLE TO:Head of Campaignsand Community Business Unit

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Campaigns including the Forum for People with learning disabilities

LIMITS OF AUTHORITY:

To work within the agreed frameworks of

Procedures, budgets and relevant

HOURS OF WORK: 35 Hours a week

MAIN TASK

/

DESCRIPTION

Embed Campaigning across Harrow Mencap /
  • Work with the Head of the Campaigns and Community team to develop the campaigns strategy and operational plan.
  • Work across Harrow Mencap to communicate the plans and involve staff, volunteers and people who use our services across the organisation in our campaigns work

Facilitate the forum for people with learning disabilities. /
  • Working with campaigns assistant to engage as many people with learning disabilities and their carers in the work of the learning disability forum
  • With people with learning disabilities develop the forum work plan including at least 4 forums a year
  • Actively collect feedback from forum activity and act as necessary

Co-ordinate campaigns including digital campaigns /
  • . Undertake research to ensure our campaigning is evidence based
  • . Take responsibility for website digital campaigns
  • . Co-ordinate Harrow Mencap’s social media accounts ( Twitter, Facebook, Instagram You Tube )
  • . Working across Harrow Mencap collect case studies that show the impact of Harrow Mencap’s work for our social media and website campaigns.
  • Develop a data base of case studies that measure impact and can be used to support our campaigning work
  • Evaluate and measure impact of the our campaigns

Raise the visibility of people with learning disabilities and their carers /
  • With people with learning disabilities represent the issues that affect them with statutory bodies ,other voluntary sector organisations and the private sector
  • Liaise with local press and prepare press releases

Administration

  • To be self sufficient in own administration including the production of reports, spreadsheets, upkeep of records and production of accessible information using relevant IT

Safeguarding /
  • Ensuring the Service meets Health and Safety requirements and ensuring risk management processes are in place
  • Be aware and follow Harrow Mencap’s safeguarding procedures

Training
/
  • To participate in training offered by Harrow Mencap using acquired skills to enhance own work performance
  • To work with managers to identify individual team training needs
  • To coordinate and implement a core training programme reflective of need and current legislation

Continual Professional Development /
  • To take responsibility for and seek opportunities for personal growth and development
  • To keep up to date with current developments within the fields of learning disabilities and housing
  • To attend and make effective use of regular supervision sessions
  • To make full use of Harrow Mencap’s appraisal system to evaluate own work performance

Working with others /
  • Regular networking and partnership work with other voluntary, statutory and community groups
  • Attending and leading meetings as required
  • Liaison with and support to families and carers
  • Building and maintaining positive internal and external relationships

Corporate Responsibility
/
  • Pro-active involvement in service and organisational developments within Harrow Mencap
  • Attending Harrow Mencap meetings and functions as required
  • Working in other Harrow Mencap services as required
  • Promoting a positive image of self and organisation at all times

Role /
  • The post holder may be required to undertake other duties, which are in keeping with this post
