SPE-YP Board Meeting

Notes:
· Chairman
o Tri-fold needs to be ready the first week in August in time for SPE Delta Deepwater Symposium being held towards the end of the month and ATCE held in October. YP can have a booth presence at both events. Christa will take the lead on the creation of the tri-fold.
o Spoke to William Hinson, Public Affairs concerning a YP tour at Exxon’s Chalmette refinery. Tentatively scheduled for August, Aurelien will take the lead on planning the tour.
o Interested in planning a field trip to visit LSU PETE department engineering site. School is not in session, will be planned for the fall.
o Board members need to forward updates to the secretary no less than 2 days prior to a YP Board Meeting. Christa will be responsible for compiling the updates and formulating the meeting’s agenda.
o Succession Planning – we will continue to serve until we can no longer. We should help to find replacements to be voted onto the board.
o SPE Delta Section will be off until August. YP will have an intern social in June to replace T3 and a board meeting. YP will be out of session for July and resume board meetings in August.
o Jarred’s planning something special for the board!
· Treasurer
o Wanted feedback on why the attendance for the SLB Fluids lab tour was so low.
o Possibly a stim vessel tour in Fourchon.
o The budget submitted for YP was $10, 300 and will be voted on at the August Delta section meeting.
o Will work on the Exxon Refinery tour for August.
· Membership
o Will plan to give a presentation to the Tulane Energy Club when school starts back in the fall.
o ATCE needs volunteers to lead student tours. Each volunteer gets free admission to the conference.
o Will coordinate with Tulane Energy Club to send a rep to one of their meetings.
· Programs
o No speaker in July or August, will have a speaker in September.
· Social
o Next t-cubed may 21st joint happy hour with Chevron’s XYZ at Lucy’s on the Northshore, 5p – 8p Chevron intern social. YP will provide the appetizers, $300 budget.
o Will organize the YP intern social at Pat O’s in the quarter on June 18th.
o No happy hour in July, T-cubed in August at Allegro Bistro.
· Student Section
o Gani, Kyrston and Jacky are having lunch with Dinah Payne from UNO on Friday May 15th.
o Will work with the Tulane Energy club in August
· Continuing Education
o Will highlight the courses offered through SPE International to our membership.
o Will work with Tracy on a possible speaker for June.
Action Items:
Christa: Will head up the team charged with making the YP tri-fold. Suggestions: brainstorming session with subcommittee.
Christa
Aurelien: Will take the lead on planning the Exxon Chalmette Refinery tour for August. This event will take place instead of a speaker for the month and will be held at a time not to conflict with the Deepwater Symposium.
Aurelien: Will write this month’s article for the newsletter.
Berik: Work on email blast soliciting volunteers from YP for the student tours during the ATCE. Contact Cheryl Collarini or Bevan Stansbury with interested candidates.
Tracy: Line up a speaker for September
Tracy: work with Kyrston on designing New Orleans specific t-shirts and mugs for sell at the Social event.
Troy: will take the lead in lining up the a speaker from LSU to speak about waterflooding.
Troy: Will send Kyrston a summary of courses offered through SPE International to post on the continuing education section of our website.
Jenny: will work with Lauren Cult, Delta section Social Chair and create a sub-committee to plan the ATCE social event. Possibly Monday $30-$50. Will work to get the social event added to the ATCE registration slip.
Jenny: email blast about next T-cubed
Jenny: email blast about intern social at Pat O’s in the quarter
Jenny: call Allegro Bistro to reschedule the June happy hour for August
Kyrston: Send proposal about how the career management site would operate to Matt, Josh and Jarred.
Kyrston: Send Ambassador volunteer request specifically to service company personnel within YP.
Kyrston: work with Tracy on designing New Orleans specific t-shirts and mugs for sell at the Social event.
Gani: Will work with Tulane Energy club to have a rep at one of their meetings do a brief informational presentation to boost membership.
Gani: Will contact the Houston organizers of PetroBowl to ensure that our YP is involved with the event this year.
