Southernwood Nursery

Welcome to our November 2014 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers.

We have enjoyed our topic about the planets and have been impressed by the children’s understanding and enthusiasm as always!! Now we start to think about Christmas. We always start by making the least Christmassy things first so that we can avoid talking to the children about Christmas too far in advance. We’ll be starting by making calendars, cards and an Advent Calendar that the children can open each day. As we make these things, we keep them in nursery so that all the children have a few things to bring home at Christmas. We need lots of cardboard tubes so please save all yours and bring them in please! We are also running short on scrap paper so if anyone has any piles they could bring in, we’d love them!

We organise a party for Christmas which, this year is on Wednesday 10th December. All the children are invited. We usually suggest that the very youngest children, or very shy children who are likely to be overwhelmed by a big noisy party, avoid coming, we will talk to you individually if this may be the case. If the party is on your child’s normal day, we can always swap your day to another if you wish. Anyway, more about this nearer the time!

Website! Our new website is up and running… www.southernwoodnursery.co.uk. You’ll see a link to our facebook and Twitter feeds. These are still in their baby phase so please take a look and let us know what you think and how we might improve them.

Photographs Reminder – Don’t forget we have a professional photographer coming into nursery on 24th November.

Funding/Invoicing – Advance Information

We will be making some changes to the billing system. From January, all invoices will be generated electronically and all parents will be billed in the same 4 weekly cycle. This means that up to Friday 2nd January, your current invoices will start to show only 3 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 week. All parents/carers will then receive a 4 weekly invoice on Monday 5th January. Please talk to us if you have any questions about this.

Reminder… Coats are getting mixed up. It really will help us keep a better track if all frequently removable clothing is named – i.e. coats and jumpers. We hope you don’t mind us naming things if they’re not.
