WHAT IS THE BACKGROUND TO THE INNOVATIVE PRACTICE THAT YOU ARE WANTING TO TRIAL? GIVE A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF ANY PAST TRIAL WORK ON THE PRACTICE, CURRENT USAGE AND WHAT YOUR TRIAL WILL ADD TO THE EXISTING BODY OF KNOWLEDGE:

WHAT ARE THE PLANNED MONITORING METHODS FOR THE TRIAL/DEMONSTRATION? PLEASE INDICATE TYPE, TIMING AND FREQUENCY OF MONITORING. THE FOLLOWING MUST ALSO FORM PART OF YOUR MONITORING STRATEGY:

·  Reports of all extension activities, including numbers attending and evaluation of the event
·  Brief social surveys of the farmers involved in the trial/demonstration

WHAT ARE THE MAJOR RISKS FOR YOUR PROJECT AND HOW WILL YOU MANAGE THOSE RISKS? FOR EXAMPLE, HAVE YOU CONSIDERED THE RISK OF FAILURE OF THE INNOVATION AND WHEN THIS WOULD BE REPORTED TO SOUTH COAST NRM? OTHER RISKS MIGHT INCLUDE SEASONAL CONDITIONS, AVAILABILITY OF MATERIALS ETC:

PLEASE PROVIDE A BROAD INDICATION OF THE BUDGET FOR YOUR PROJECT. A LIST OF BUDGET ITEMS WILL BE NEEDED TO ASSESS THIS APPLICATION; HOWEVER A DETAILED COST BREAKDOWN WILL BE FINALISED AT A LATER STAGE IF YOUR PROJECT IS SUCCESSFUL.

Please remember:

·  All figures in the below budget should be quoted excluding GST.

·  The maximum amount of funding that can be applied for is $40 000 ex GST.

·  Funding recipients are expected to make a significant contribution to the costs of the project via in-kind and/or financial contribution, depending on the level of private benefit that may be derived from the project activities.

·  A maximum of 10% of project funds can be allocated to MERI, GIS mapping, photo monitoring, farmer surveys, administration and reporting to South Coast NRM as required. This does not include the cost of detailed trial site monitoring and data collection (ie soil sampling) or data analysis.
