In order for your child to be successful, please continue to encourage them to strive to do their very best. A positive attitude at home and school will cultivate a more engaging student. High expectations of your child will promote better focus toward their educational goals. I expect your child to be prepared for class, eager to learn, and have appropriate behavior. Encourage them to attend school daily because they are not allowed to miss more than 5 days per semester or they will fail. Continuous absences lead to missed assignments that must be made up, which interferes with learning.

Cell phone usage during class for instructional purposes is encouraged. Content specific apps provide valuable resources for assisting your child with homework, especially with Algebra and English. We will use these apps in class so your child will know how to use them independently at home. However, talking on the phone and texting during class violates school policy and results in confiscation of the device. Teachers are not held accountable for student devices in the event of stolen or broken devices. As long as we follow the “Golden Rule” – “Treat others the way you want to be treated”, class will run smoothly.

We should keep an open communication throughout the semester. I will be calling you from time to time about your child’s progress and behavior. Please feel free to contact me at school (910) 422-3987, during 2nd period planning 9:50 pm – 11:20 pm, or by email, . I know this will be a successful semester with your child’s cooperation and our open communication. Thank you for encouraging and praising your child to do their very best.
