Kiwanis Club of Clermont Scholarship

  1. No restrictions as to race or gender.
  2. Application must be filled out by student.
  3. This scholarship may be used for either an accredited academic or accredited vocational institution located in the continental United States.
  4. The one time grant will not be less than $1,500 per year, per applicant. The Kiwanis Club’s Foundation’s Board of Directors, or their designee, will determine the number of grants awarded. Criteria for these scholarships is as follows: The applicant shall be of good moral character, a citizen of the United States, a resident of Lake County, and a senior, who upon graduation, will have completed at least one full, continuous year at one of the sponsored high schools.
  5. Consideration of applicants will be based on financial need and probability of success.
  6. All information obtained shall be confidential.
  7. It shall be understood by the applicant that the monies granted will be forwarded to the applicant’s chosen institution of learning in the form of a check made out to the school and designated for the use of the student.
  8. Student must have a recommendation attached to the application form from a teacher at their high school. Recommendations may not be completed by family members.
  9. The scholarships will be awarded at South Lake High school’s Scholarship Night at the end of the school year.
  10. The scholarship must be used within one year of date of award.

Directions for Applying

  1. Read and review the scholarship listing and scholarship descriptions for important information regarding each scholarship offered.
  1. Complete the common scholarship application included in this packet.

3. All scholarships will require you to provide resumes, essays, and teacher recommendations with your application.

  1. Attach all required documents to the completed application. A complete Kiwanis Club of Clermont Scholarship Application must contain the following:

  • Teacher Recommendation(s) – page 6
  • 1-page essay addressing the four questions

Please answer the following questions in your essay. Limit response to one page, using a 12-point font size.

  1. Describe your reason for submitting this application.
  2. Describe an event or moment in your life that affected or changed you.
  3. Describe what “Community” means to you and describe any positive impacts you have made in the South Lake County Community to date or hope to make in the future.
  4. Financial need is a key determining factor in the decision process for awarding these scholarships. Please describe your financial need to us. Be sure to include any extenuating circumstances that would adversely affect your ability to pay for your continuing education.
