Introductory Residential Course

To describe the principles of "competence based training" in relation to the RPSGB manual and SEMMED Guide to Preregistration Training.

To undertake reflective practice

To develop the concept of lifelong learning and introduce learning contracts between the preregistration pharmacists and South East Medicines Management Education and development Team.

To introduce audit and its application to pharmacy

To demonstrate an awareness of basic First Aid skills to a level required by the RPSGB.

To be aware of the structure of the NHS and the role of the pharmacy profession within it.

To describe the attributes of an effective team

Baseline OSCEs

To identify a baseline level of clinical competence

Pharmacy in the NHS

To describe the content of the NHS Plan and National Service Frameworks and discuss probable resultant changes in pharmacy practice

To develop a system for self checking and checking others dispensing

To describe the role of pharmacists and pharmacy support staff in the healthcare team

To be aware of the impact of non-medical prescribing on the pharmacy profession

To identify the components of an ideal consultation
