JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:Accounts Assistant

Department:Finance

Job Details:

Responsible to:Finance Manager/Management Accountant

Liaison with:Managers, external suppliers and customers.

Working hours:15 hours per week, to be worked Monday and Tuesday, 09:00 - 17:00 with 30 minutes lunch break.

Essential Qualifications:GCSE (or equivalent) level of education to level C or above in maths andenglish.

Essential Experience:Experience of working in accounts or finance related work.

Must have experience of using an accounts package/software.

Must have experience of using Word and Excel.

Essential Requirements:To satisfactorily undertake a DBS check.

Job Summary (description of main purpose of job):

To support the Finance Manager/Management Accountant by undertaking a wide range of accounting and administrative duties.

Main Duties:

  • Manage sales and purchase ledgers.
  • Coding income and expenditure on Excel.
  • Analyse accounting information on Excel.
  • Ensure all paperwork is in place for income received and payments made.
  • Preparing and recording sales invoices and purchase invoices using accounting software as required.
  • Updating ledgers when payments are received and when payments are made.
  • Reconciling rent books and accounts ledgers.
  • Preparing and sending customer statements.
  • Manage utility accounts.
  • Resolve queries for both suppliers and customers.
  • Gift Aid database management.
  • Manage the filing of accounting documents, letters and other documents received as required.
  • Retrieve filed documents when required.
  • Retrieve documents, make copies and prepare evidence for monitoring and evaluation of funding.
  • Receive and account for cash income and manage the banking of income received.
  • Hold a Petty Cash float.
  • Manage incoming and outgoing post for the finance department.
  • Train and supervise finance volunteers as required.
  • Assist in managing monthly salaries as required.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures.

  • To participate in supervision with your line manager and to identify personal development and training needs.
