November Homework Menu

This is an optional assignment for students to complete each week.

Students who complete three tasks or more from the menu will be rewarded when assignments are returned to school on Friday!

Select three tasks to complete. One must be math and one must be reading. If you need items printed out, please notify your teacher at the start of the week. Look at your teacher’s website or newsletter for your child’s assigned spelling pattern.

Solve and make your own mystery number
*see attachment on website / After reading a book of choice for 20 minutes, fill out the vocabulary foldable.
*Organizer can be found under the menu link on my website / Write a short story using at least five vocabulary words from your weekly list (found in newsletter.) Stories should be at least two paragraphs in length (10 sentences.)
Create your own two-step story problems for your family to solve. Make sure they write an equation and explain how to solve the problem. / iStation (online)- 20 minutes / Create a story RAFT story:
R-role- you are a turkey
A-audience- a family
Format- friendly letter
T- topic- convince the family not to eat you for Thanksgiving dinner.
Classworks (online)- 20 minutes

*Organizer can be found under the menu link on my website / Word Study: using your spelling words from this week, select your favorite spelling activity to complete (rainbow write, ABC order, sentences, etc.)

PROJECT OPTION

In lieu of the three activities from the menu, your child may work on a math or reading project to submit for credit. See the options below (note-please only complete each project choice once during this month.)

●Math: Create a bank account and budget – complete with debit card, savings and checking. Use a ledger to keep track of deposits and withdrawals from the account. What are you saving up to buy? How will you budget for the expenses?

●Family field trip- go somewhere with your family (library, museum, or event) write about your experience. You can include photos or an artifact from your trip.
