PASTORAL UPDATES

We mourn the passing of Donald Ritchey, who died December 7. The 65th anniversary of Don’s ordination was celebrated in September at District Conference. Appropriately, conference was at the Mexico Church of the Brethren, where Don served as pastor from 1959 – 1993.

BRETHREN LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE

BLI is offering a course on Old Testament, taught by Bob Bowman, January 14, January 28, and February 11, 2017. Class will be held each of those Saturdays from 9am to 4pm at Marion Church of the Brethren (2302 Geneva Ave, Marion, IN 46953). Coffee and light snacks are provided. Contact Tina Rieman at if you are interested in attending.

DISTRICT CONFERENCE

2016 District Conference minutes have been posted on the district website conference page.

NEW YEAR’S EVE RETREAT AT CAMP MACK

There are still open spots for junior and senior high youth to attend Camp Mack’s annual New Year’s Eve Retreat. Call Camp Mack at 574-658-4831 if you’re interested in attending.

DISTRICT FUND

The district fund balance on November 30 was $47,565.40. Thank you to all those congregations who sent in 4th-quarter gifts! A year-end report will be in the February district newsletter.

JANUARY CALENDAR

The District Board will meet at the Pyrmont Church of the Brethren Monday, January 16, at 6 pm.

District Executive Beth Sollenberger will be meeting with the Council of District Executives January 22-26.

Beginning in January, Administrative Assistant Rachel Gross will be in the office Mondays and Thursdays from 8 am to noon. BLI assistant Tina Rieman’s hours continue on an as-needed basis.

FORMS

Form Bs, which ask for leadership information from each congregation, were mailed at the end of September and are due in the Elgin office Dec. 31. These forms are very helpful to the district office in putting together the district directory. If your congregation needs a new form, please let Rachel know; she will request that a new one be sent to you.

CHRISTIAN CITIZENSHIP SEMINAR

Registration is open for the 2017 CCS; the theme this year is “Native American Rights: Food Security”; the dates are April 22-27.
