The Staff Physician is the on who is responsible for organizing, directing and providing medical and health diagnostic treatment services. He or she may work in a hospital or clinic setting. There are the wide range of duties and responsibilities attached to it which have to be fulfilled.
Duties and responsibilities
There are the following duties and responsibilities of a staff physician:
· The main duty is to provide medical services in a health clinic setting.
· He or she has to diagnose diseases, conditions and illnesses.
· He or she is responsible for providing medical care to the general public.
· He or she needs to review x-ray and laboratory findings.
· It will be the duty to prescribe the appropriate type of medicine and treatment.
· He or she is responsible for referring patients for special types of diagnostic treatments or medical procedures and coordinates plans for treatments.
· He or she needs to provide medical consultation to prevention, treatment, care and diagnosis of health conditions and problems.
· He or she has to supervise mid-level practitioners, staff nurses and other support staff.
· He or she has the responsibility to keep and prepare accurate medical reports and records.
· It will be needed to consult with the other physicians concerning medical histories of patients.
Skills and Specifications
The required skills and specifications are as follows:
· The person should have the ability to assess health symptoms and provide accurate diagnoses.
· He or she must be able to prescribe the type of treatment that is appropriate to the condition as well as of the patient.
· The person must have the proper knowledge of applying techniques and principles of modern medical medicine.
· He or she should have the skills of effectively communicate with other medical staff and patients in both written and verbal forms.
· He or she should have the excellent interpersonal skills to establish effective and harmonious relations with medical staff, patients and the general public.
· The person must have the ability to understand the requirements of indigent patients.
· He or she should have the ability to interact effectively with clients from various social and economic backgrounds.
Education and Qualifications
· The basic degree required is the graduation from accredited university or school with a MD degree.
· He or she must have completed 1-year internship.
· The person must possess valid certificate as surgeon or physician with the valid State Driver’s License (Class C).
