Clyde A. Bess
Clyde is a graduate of Claflin University and continues to serve his alma
mater as chairman of the Board of Visitors and regional director of the International Alumni Association. He worked for over 20 years with Baxter Healthcare Corporation in various managerial positions, served as Director of Training and Career Development for Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina (TRICARE), and is a principal with Bess and Associates where he is a Global Career Development Facilitator. A resident of Coward, Clyde is the chairman of the Pee Dee Transitional Shelter Advisory Board and several other not-profit boards in Lake City.
Henry E. Barton, Jr.
Henry is the Vice President for Government Affairs for SCANA Corporation and previously served on the SCICU Board of Trustees as a member of the Public Policy Committee from 2005-2011. He is a graduate of Furman University where a summer internship with U.S. Rep. Carroll Campbell led to a permanent position with the Congressman in Washington. He later served as the Director of Governmental Relations in the office of Gov. Campbell. Henry is a graduate of the SC Diversity Leaders Initiative (Furman University) and the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro.
Paul J. Bopp
Paul is the Director of Wealth Management, Senior Vice President for First Citizens Bank. After graduating from Hamilton College (Clinton, NY) and before entering the financial field, Paul served 2 years as a middle school science teacher with Teach for America. Paul received his MBA degree from Emory University and is active with Junior Achievement and coaching youth sports. Paul recently moved to Columbia from Spartanburg where he was a board member and treasurer of Spartanburg’s Charles Lea Center Foundation and the Spartanburg Charter School.
Michael N. (Neil) Jones
Neil is the Chief Accounting Officer for Colliers International South Carolina, Inc. He is a graduate of Clemson University where he majored in corporate financial management. Neil is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a Certified Information Technology Professional. A 2008 graduate of Leadership Columbia, Neil later served as the chair of that organization’s executive committee. The Lexington resident is a graduate of Leadership South Carolina and the former treasurer of Columbia Opportunity Resource.
Jay Lasater
Jay is a Senior Vice President, Commercial Bank Executive with South State Bank (formerly South Carolina Bank and Trust) in Columbia. He previously served as Regional Market President (Midlands) for NBSC Bank. The University of South Carolina alumnus has served on the local boards of the American Heart Association, Columbia Urban League, and Success by Six. A graduate of Leadership Columbia, Jay currently serves on the boards of the March of Dimes, Spring Valley Country Club, Spring Valley Presbyterian Church, and is president of the Sigma Nu Delta Chapter Alumni House Corp.
Amy Elizabeth Love
Amy is the Director of Innovation at the SC Department of Commerce, where she is leading South Carolina’s first state-supported effort to further an innovative, technology-based and entrepreneurial economy. She has an M.A. in public relations from USC and a B.A. in English from Furman University. Amy is a graduate and former trustee of Leadership South Carolina and a fellow of the Liberty Fellowship. In 2014, she received the Knowledge Economist Award from the SC Research Authority for devoting a large part of her life to building the state’s high-tech community for the public good.
Lucy Grey McIver
Lucy Grey, a graduate of the USC Law School, is the Assistant General Counsel at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of South Carolina. She has taught drama at Sumter’s Wilson Hall High School and at Duke University Drama Workshop. A resident of Sumter, Lucy Grey directed several productions performed at the Sumter Little Theater. She earned an MFA degree in acting from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill after receiving a B.A. with honors in dramatic arts and communications studies from the same institution.
Kevin M. Short
Kevin is Middle Market Carolinas Regional Group Director for TD Bank and President of the TD CDC, TD Bank’s New Markets Tax Credit Group. Kevin and his family live in Greenville where he is active in many community and civic organizations including Upstate Alliance, American Cancer Society, YMCA of Greenville, SC Children’s Theater, Carolina Ballet, and Crime Stoppers. He is received a B.S. in finance with a minor in economics from Clemson University and is a graduate of Leadership Greenville X.
