Opening Session
The official opening of the ICAO State Safety Programme (SSP) and Safety Management Systems (SMS) Training Course will take place on 26 August 2010 at 08.45 a.m. The formal training course will be held daily from 08.30 a.m. Lateness is strictly prohibited.
Languages
The training course will be carried out in English.
Hotel Information
Participants are requested to make their own hotel reservations. A list of recommended hotels is attached.
Transportation
Transportation can be arranged via the hotels to and from the airport as well as the hotel will co-ordinate a taxi service to and from the venue of training.
(Will be providing transport from hotels to the venue for participants?). Please advise.
Visas
Participants are requested to apply for visas well in advance from South Africa High Commissions or Embassies, which will be issued upon the presentation of documentation showing that the applicants are designated representatives to a particular UN meeting to be held in Johannesburg.
Weather and local time information
The average temperature during August is 20 degrees Celsius and high humidity levels can be experienced during the day.
Please confirm the weather so that participants can take necessary precautions.
South Africalocal time is GMT+2. It is fixed across the country.
Local Currency and Foreign Exchanges Rates
The official currency is Rand(ZAR). The current exchange parity has currently set at the rate of:
GBP1= 20.00 ZAR
US$1= 10.00 ZAR
€1= 20.00 ZAR
British Pound Sterling, American dollars and EURO are accepted in many places. Exchange is easily available in the banks and exchange agencies.Most hotels and businesses currently accept credit cards hence participants should not heavily rely on them.
Language
The official language of the Country is English.
Hours of business
The official working hours in South Africa are 8.00a.m to 4.00p.m Mondays to Fridays and 8.00a.m to 12.30p.m on Saturday and Sunday being the holiday.
Electrical Supply
The electrical out is 220/240 V, 50 Hz. The standard 3-pin British plugs are the most common outlets in most hotels.
