1. General information

1.1 Scope of application

1.1.1 This section concerns the sound absorption of interior architecture, architectural acoustical space, and to the interior space of buildings with the purpose of creating a desirable acousticalfacility. This section specifies the standard physical properties and special specifications of the Melcotton acoustic plaster finish products, i.e. MC 012~120- Wave typeand Board type in compliance with the design drawings and agreements as overseen by supervisors and inspectors.

1.1.2 Installed inside the building or architectural acoustic facility, this section is used for the sound-absorbing properties of the insulating and functional interior finished material.

A separate design can be formed on the surface finish layer and consists of dual complex sound-absorbing materials that offer broadband sound-absorbing performance. It is composed of sound absorbing base layer and sound absorbing enhancement layer. The glass fiber reinforced mesh is laminated inside the surface layer.

* The sound absorbing base layer is made of the melamine form board, i.e. BASF’s Basotect G.

* The sound absorbing enhancement layer is made of the acoustic plaster exclusive toMelcotton, i.e. Mel-coat.

Mel-coat is a plaster used for sound control and sound absorption. It consists of primer, finish coat, and exclusive thinner. Of these, it is the exclusive thinner which is the functional thinner used to activate or control the sound-absorbing performance in line with frequency.

* It is a functional acoustic plaster finishing material consisting of broadband sound-absorbing structure, dual sound-insulating structure, dual insulation structure, and dual complex sound-absorbing structure with isolated independence space.

* Surface finish designs; horizontal sanding finish, horizontal putty finish, spray finish, and special design finish.

* Surface finish colors; the colors are supplied according to the standard design color chip.

1.1.3 As for the layered section and thickness of the Melcotton T. 012~120㎜ acoustic plaster finish, the thickness of the base sound-absorbing material is selected according to the sound-absorbing plan and insulation purpose in line with frequency.

* The thickness of the base layer (Basotect_G) is 9~117㎜. It can be supplied according to the material segregation boundary and the thickness of molding.

* The thickness of the sound absorbing enhancement layer is 3㎜, and one reinforced mesh is laminated inside. To increase the compressive strength and durability of a certain part, reinforced mesh lamination can be added (areas where reinforced mesh lamination is added: near the punching area like the lighting/diffuser and at the bottom of the wall).

The enhancement layer provides dual broadband complex sound-absorbing performance. It delivers the sound-absorbing performance of the surface layer and the sound-absorbing adjustment function in line with frequency.

The configuration of the sound absorbing enhancement layer is as follows:

* The thickness of under coating absorption putty (Mel-coat) is 2㎜. The Glass fiber reinforced mesh is laminated inside.

* The thickness of top absorption paint (Mel-coat) is 1㎜, and comprises horizontal sanding finish, horizontal putty finish, spray finish, and specific design finish.

The Mel-coat top finish material comprises the soft type finishing material for the top part of the wall and ceiling, and the solid type finish used for the bottom of the wall or certain reinforced surfaces. Both the soft and solid types may have the same colors and textures.

* The surface layer provides sound-absorbing performance and sound-absorbing control function in line with frequency.

* The sound-absorbing and acoustic control characteristics of the dual complex sound-absorbing material are as follows: It delivers the sound-absorbing performance of the melamine sound-absorbing T. 9~117㎜ porous sound-absorbing material, i.e. the base layer. It also provides a noise reduction coefficient that is suitable for the broadband frequency range with the T. 3mm enhancement layer.

Expression of the functional design of the surface finish of the sound absorbing enhancement layer:

* Providesacoustic wave design applied to the curved structure

* Providesa plane that is extended seamlessly

* Providesa sound control design to control the noise reduction coefficient, sound pressure and reverberation for acoustic facility

1.1.4 The design and application thickness of the base layer (melamine sound-absorbing board; BASF’s Basotect G) must be applied to the sound-absorbing range required for the acoustical space, and the thickness of the sound-absorbing layer can be stipulated for multiple purposes.

②Sound-absorbing structure of the melamine foam; the cross section of the melamine foam has continuous open pores, multiple pores and the network structure suitable for sound absorption.

③ The surface and corners of the melamine foam board must be protected so that the shape is not damaged when delivering, placing, piling.

④An adhesive binder used for affixing the melamine foam board.

* It must be appropriately selected according to the physical properties specified below. Environment-friendly adhesives for woodworking, sound-absorbing putty, anti-rust primers can be used for plaster boards, MDF and plywood. An adhesive binder that offers resistance against building vibrations and provides durability, such as the rubber elastic adhesive, can be used for galvanized steel plate sandwich panels. Adhesives with bonding durability can be applied on the rear side of the Basotect Ⓡ G., and use the adhesive Basotect Ⓡ G. made with the silicon release paper attached.

* If it is installed on the plastering concrete surface, a horizontal surface must be created on the bottom, and the tile adhesive can be used as the adhesive binder for the plastered surface, concrete surface, and water-proof plaster board surface.

⑤ The melamine foam boards by thickness (base layer) may be cut and supplied according to 1250×2500㎜ / T9, T12, T17, T22, T27, T32, T42, T47㎜~T117㎜, or the thickness of the material separator, molding and design dimensions after mutual consultation.
