Information on the Absentee Process for Sorority Recruitment

This document is provided for potential new members who can’t make all, or a part of, recruitment weekend. First, DON’T WORRY! A number of women miss all or part of sorority recruitment each year. Please communicate your availability with your recruitment counselor, and also complete the following information on the second page of this document.

How it works…

You will complete the form and turn it in to your recruitment counselor. This information will be provided to each sorority. Potential new members must be available for selections over the phone on Saturday and Sunday. Potential new members also have the option to learn where they will be “in absentia attending” each day.

If you’re missing…

Friday: You can make your Friday selections with the Panhellenic Council before leaving, or a member of the Panhellenic Council will contact you after the completion of the rounds around 11pm.

Saturday:A member of the Panhellenic Council will contact you during the day to report which parties you’ll be attending, and she will also ask you to rank the organizations whose events you’ll be attending. The latest you can provide your preferences for this process is 7pm.

Sunday:A member of the Panhellenic Council will contact you during the day to report which parties you’ll be attending, and she will also ask you to rank the organizations whose events you’ll be attending. The latest you can rank the chapters is 2:30pm. If you are unable to attend the bid ceremony, a member of the Panhellenic Council will also call you to let you know where you have received a bid. This phone call will occur between 8:00pm and 10:00pm on Sunday or the following day.
