Solid / Perforated Roller Shutter Curtains

Both types of curtain are constructed from 22swg (0.9mm) rolled galvanised metal which forms the traditional shutter lath shape which is solid, the Perforated lath offers a 65% visibility also giving the integrity for security and weather protection.

Each lath is connected to the one above and are held in place by steel end locks 3mm in thickness fixed to both ends of every other lath, this makes the individual laths a complete curtain and prevents lateral movements.

Motors, Rollers and Safety Brakes

All motors are calculated to lift the shutter curtain, dependent on size and construction they are internally fitted to the shutter roller and are fixed in place with 6mm/8mm counter sunk machine screws. The open and close limits are built within the motor and adjustment points are mounted externally to the motor head allowing the final stopping point to be adjusted to suit site specific requirements. Shutter rollers are calculated against the width and height of the shutter and constructed from steel sections 4” in diameter and internal wall thickness of 9swg / 16swg. Safety brakes are fitted to all roller shutters regardless of the application providing a bearing end for a better operation and gravity decent brake which prevents the shutter free falling. All safety brakes have an inbuilt switch which will isolate the power when activated.

Steel Work

All roller shutters are constructed from steel square hollow sections (shs) 50mm x 50mm or 60mm x 40mm with a 3.5mm wall the shs runs the full height of the roller shutter allowing for the guide channels and head plates to be mounted. Guide channels are constructed of rolled steel section 65mm deep and a width of 32mm, Head plates are mounted at the top of the roller shutter and are constructed from 3mm / 6mm steel and come in 2 sizes 305mm or 355mm dependent on the size of the roller shutter.

Canopies and Fascia’s

All externally fitted roller shutters will be fitted with a canopy and fascias which are constructed from 20swg galvanised sheet metal and formed to suit the headplates. This allows the roller shutter gearing area to be completely enclosed preventing accidents. Shutters which are fitted within a ceiling void will not be fitted with any canopies or fascia’s unless otherwise specified.

Controls

All entrance / exit shutters are fitted with remote control units with a standard 2 hand sets, additional hand sets can be fitted on request. The remote units are built with standard safety features which allow the shutter to be opened on an impulse signal but must be closed on constant signal which prevents accidents when closing. The remote unit is built with a rolling frequency code which prevents interference and maintains security. All other roller shutters will be fitted with an internal key switch, which must have a clear line of sight to the roller shutter key switches are used to prevent untrained personnel operating the roller shutter. In addition to the standard specification, the option of group controllers may be required allowing banks of up to 8 shutters being controlled by 1 switch or remote unit

Locking

All external roller shutters are fitted with x2 guide mounted pinson locks fitted at low level. Internal roller shutters will be fitted with pinson locks unless the installation will not allow it. The option then would be to install ground locks, site specification allowing. Also, we recommend as an additional feature that the installation of safety cut out devices should be installed to prevent roller shutters being operated whilst locked this is not in the standard specification.

Finish

All roller shutters and components are finished galvanised as standard with the additional option of a fully powder coated roller shutter available in any British standard RAL colour.
