Announcement

The Society of Florida Archivists (SFA)is hosting a logo contest. The winning logowill become a trademark of the SFA. Please read the requirements outlined below for more information.

Rules

This document describes the official rules of the Society of Florida Archivists Logo Design Contest. The purpose of this contest is to design a logo for the SFA. Information on how to enter and about the prizes is part of these rules.

Eligibility

  1. The contest is open to individuals. The contest is not open to companies, educational institutions, organizations, etc. or to groups associated with such institutions.
  2. Members of the SFA Board of Directors and their immediate family are not eligible to enter the contest.
  3. Entrants must be of sufficient legal age and standing to enter into a contract with the SFA as required below.

How to Enter

  1. There is no fee to enter the contest.
  2. Up to two entries may be submitted by any one entrant.
  3. Entries must conform to the Submission Guidelines set out below. Entries which fail to do so will be rejected.
  4. Entries must be submitted via WeTransfer.com by email to . Entries must be submitted as a scalable vector graphic in EPS format and also in JPEG format. See the Submission Guidelines below for further information.
  5. Entry must be received by 11:59 pm on August 31, 2015, Eastern Standard Time and entries must include entrant’s name, age, postal address, phone number, and email address.
  6. SFA will attempt to acknowledge all entries within one week of receipt; however, we cannot be responsible for entries or responses lost in e-mail.

Submission Guidelines

The purpose of the contest is to design a logo for the Society of Florida Archivists. The logo will be used online, in print, as a monogram, on merchandise, etc. Artwork format flexibility is a key requirement, the logo must be high resolution for high quality printing, resize easily and to look good in black and white and in color. While the logo needs to look good at relatively small sizes, it will not need to be shrunk for use as a Favicon.

Entrantsmust ensure their entries are not in any way similar to existing logos or other copyrighted images. A logo that cannot be registered as a trademark, no matter how well crafted, cannot win the contest.

The logo must contain the letters “SFA” OR the words “Society of Florida Archivists” and not contain any other text.

Due to the requirements for high quality printing and re-sizing, entries must be submitted in scalable vector graphic format (EPS). We advise against the use of halftones and gradients. Color in this version must be CMYK. A JPEG version must accompany the original artwork.

The limit on attachment sizes for WeTransfer.com is 2 GB. If your submission exceeds this size, even after compression, please send the image individually and note clearly in your emails that you are doing so.

Prizes

The winning entrant will receive:

  1. Free Annual Membership to the SFA for 2016, or a Visa gift card equal to the cost of Annual SFA Membership.

Selection of Winner

  1. The winning design will be selected by the SFA Board of Directors. All decisions are final.
  2. The Board of Directors reserves the right not to select a winner if no suitable entry is received.
  3. The winner is required to sign a contract assigning all ownership of the logo to the SFA.
  4. Accepting the prize constitutes permission for SFA to make public and otherwise use winner’s name. Further personal data may be requested but is not required.

Intellectual Property

  1. All submitted work must be original and not based on any pre-existing design.
  2. The winning entry will be registered by the SFA as a trademark and the entrant agrees to transfer all rights and title of the entry to the SFA.
